To add on to fudgey's encounters with freshies....one of my friends who's doing masters and tutoring at NUS just mentioned that one freshie submitted his assignment:
double-sided
2 pages per side.

I can one-up that.
For mid-term tests for the module I'm teaching, we give out question papers and answer booklets.
One cuckoobird wrote his answers..... on the margins of his question paper.

From what he said, he thought that he had enough time to do 'rough working' in the margins of his question paper before giving his 'final answers' in the answer sheets.....
Wow. I had no idea you can have enough time to do both a 'rough draft' and a 'final submission' in a test. Certainly he didn't.

maybe his proof was flawed.. just like Andrew Wiles' was flawed in the beginning..
still, his last theorem was proven right but it took disgusting amounts of new math and a totally new field of math to prove it
