But we will soon have 2 full universities and 2 specialised universities... and a whole host of private institutions.
That particular forum character has been harping on and on about the Chinese issue for donkey ages. True, it's compromised a lot of cultures, including peranakan culture (which he rants so much about). But it has made integration among the different groups that bit easier. We could've easily ended up like our neighbours otherwise, or even like some of the new immigrants who only speak their own language and stick to their own cliques.
Paranoia runs deep in those fellars too... anyone who doesn't submit to their views is a PAP brown noser in their eyes. Pretty rich for people who claim to embrace different opinions.

I even had to reply in Chinese text in particular how come why Singapore has to go English to survive. But I did also mention those who literally gave up even e basic Mother Tongue would soon fail.

As I pointed out, even Wałęsa had better things to say in public when his opponent Kaczynski died in that plane crash earlier this year.

Yeah. no matter how much you disagree with a person or dislike/hate him or her, being happy about a person's demise is crossing the line into being a sorry excuse for a human being. if you have nothing good to say, just shut the fuck up. -

cos my father was a child of the 40s .....
he was a young man when Singapore was born, a chinese high student when the commies were in there, and he went through all the trials and tribulations that Singapore went through in her birth pangs and her youth .....
That's why my father, regardless of all the COEs, GSTs, high housing prices etc etc, still remain a staunch MIW supporter. He started out at JVI when jurong and tuas was still a swamp, and witness the transformation, and he knows things could have been a lot worse. Oh, he'll bitch and rant like a typical Singaporean for sure, and he's never forgiven old lee for closing nantah ..... but he's cognizant of what the lees has done for Singapore, so, weighing things out he's still an unwavering supporter.
He called me up at 1am last night from China over this.
