This morning I was waiting for the missus on the MRT platform.
Every time a train came, the stupid 'Train incoming, train incoming, train incoming.....!!!!' jingle would play.
Worse still, this was City Hall, with trains converging from four directions. So I had to listen to the jingle every single time a train came from any direction.
I was there for twenty minutes! It was torture, I tell you! Torture!!!

You guys try sitting down at City Hall for 20 minutes straight, during peak hours, with trains at 2-minute intervals converging from all four directions!
I must have heard that verdamn irritating jingle at least 40 times while I was there!
It makes me wanna go flip table at the idiot who thought of such a harebrained idea!!!

i got whacked by that over the weekend - but that was on the circle line; didn't hear it at city hall - thought it was just limited to the circle line.

Or perhaps you can have fixed appt slots? So they have to fit ur time instead? That's what some of my tutors did - they just said they are available only this time to this time when.

Which is what I did.....
In the very first lesson, I gave each of them a piece of paper full of information about my lessons. I gave specific timings for consultation, and to first email me if they want to attend consultation. No emails means I assume that no one wants to see me.
I also told them that if they want to see me outside those consultation hours, they can try making an appointment, but approval would be subject to my discretion depending on my schedule.
This girl just happily showed up outside of consultation hours without even bothering to send me an email beforehand.....
