Ytd at Kino saw they released the book on Singapore's past - post independence's 2nd decade (1975 - 1985).
Saw those posters of GIRO's introduction in 1985, POSB's Cash-on-line (ATM) in 1979 and the poster of introducing cashless payment (bus farecard) in 1983.
Those were the days

Ah Clive knows better than meIn the book there's 2 case studies - MRT & pig rearing. Both had late Dr Goh's comments.
MRT: Dr Goh was actually lukewarm on MRT. He mentioned you buy more SBS buses, if you dun need it later, can just scrap it. But if you're building e MRT, one wrong calculation, tat's it, money wasted.
Pork: I think they shifted the pig farms from around the island to Punggol in 1980s. But by 1984, they calculated tat it's cheaper to buy pork from M'sia than rearing them ourselves.
But my relative says today, ends up Singkie eats pork from far but not near de

But the MRT was eventually built w/ SBS's report to the govt.
It stated that aft consulting the British on the new town bus route planning, it's concluded that by as more and more new towns are completed, by 1990s SBS would not be able to handle the growing needs.

with the current traffic, if there's no MRT and more buses instead, I think the road would be pretty much jammed up now...
