But who would have thought HarbourFront area would end up house a pub, VivoCity & IR across the Keppel Channel...
When it was a line of shipyard, WTC, naval base (Pulau Brani) and e Keppel wharf in 1980s.

morning guys
Ok.... that bugger who handed in his test paper wrongly has finally replied to me. He said (I quote):
'Dear Sir: I belong to group xxx, FYI.'
I don't think he even realized that using the term 'FYI' in this context is downright rude since it has a tendency towards sarcasm. The message I got was:
'Dear Sir: I belong to group xxx. Don't you even know that? Sheesh.
'
So in my reply I b*tchslapped the guy on several counts: (a) for not bothering to check his class group and venue, (b) for not bothering to check that he had handed in his test paper correctly, (c) for being rude to me, intentionally or not, (d) for taking such a bloody long time to reply to me, and (e) for making me have to go through the trouble of finding his own tutor to pass the paper to him.
lots of "unintentionally rude" people out there..
but then, by being "unintentionally rude" they are really rude to use things and terms they do not understand.. they did not bother to find the meanings of the terms they use....
and from an undergrad who is supposed to be trying to learn all he can, and supposed to be going out of his way to learn about things, it's criminal
@fudge and ah bear: well, when they come out to the workforce, it's just terrible -___- I hate ppl who likes to use "words" in emails but is used wrongly instead...

How do you intend to penalise him, if you are allowed to do that?

i was wondering the same thing. then again, fudge may have put in a word to the other tutor.
They hv now healthy options for hawker fare???
There goes our hawker culture
It's already dying a slow death with all the substitutes like lard with palm oil.
Seriously if you want to eat char kwey teow, nasi lemak etc than don't think about yr diet
But the problem is ppl is that they do not know how to moderate their intake and than blame the hawkers for selling unhealthy stuff

talking about not being able to moderate the intake, you should see what was going on in the hospital...
a guy who just had a stent put in, was asking his wife to go get him some chendol..
a family who took up 3 (THREE!!!) visitor's lounges were stuffing their faces with Mr Bean pancakes, chips, junk food and loads of soda.. their children (as young as 2) were guzzling down the oversugared crap.. and one of them who was morbidly obese, short of breath was telling people that out of 10 siblings, 2 have passed away... i bet from heart attacks or diabetes... the rest of her relatives were mostly obese.. and eating way too much junk food
you see patients with their IV sets still in their veins guzzling down nasi briyani and prata, nasi lemak with way too much curry and drinking loads of soda in the food court...
not to mention a man who looked like he had half his face sanded off, wrapped up like half a mummy, was way way WAY outside, past the parking lot into the main road to smoke with a friend..
moderation?
lots of people don't have any...

Our food culture is dying. We hv great Western, Japanese, French, German etc etc restaurants, but we don't have any really great local food restaurant or place to call
Most famous hawker fare hv just dropped so much in standard it's a far cry from the past.
I think food plays a huge part in our culture. We hv many dishes that are uniquely Singapore so why is the Government promoting our food overseas while killing it locally with all sorts of atrocities?? eg. Feast Fight program on healthier ways of cooking our local delights.

I think the government should be educating these farktards instead of killing our food culture. It's been long proven that food plays an important role in history and culture.
I bet you if you ask a Japanese to change his recipe to be healthier, he'll most likely tell you to fark off.
This reminds me of a old lady selling char kwey teow at McPherson market many years ago..... she should be dead now. She fries her char kwey teow with lard. This girl asked her if she can use something healthier instead of lard and the old lady told her in hokkien " This is how my char kwey teow is cooked. I don't want to sell it to you because you don't know how to appreciate it"
I applaud that old lady. She takes pride in her recipe. The irony is that char kwey teow is so good coz of the lard. Which is the reason why I stopped eating char kwey teow in SG coz the taste is all different. I only do so in KL -_-"
time to go collect my Xperia Arc

My uncle died of advanced stage lung cancer brought about by many years of heavy smoking.
At the funeral, several of his nephews (on the other side of the family) lit up their cigarettes throughout the ceremony.
*facepalm*

That's because we're too obedient and lap up everything without thinking about it. There are very few dishes at hawker centres which could be considered healthy but these are the most accessible places where people eat.

Not really there are the soup dishes and also even economy rice there are a wide variety of healtier ingredients for you to choose from just that ppl prefer to go for stuff like sweet & sour pork.
Assuming you eat home everyday for most families, it's usually like economy rice anyway
