ytd NSP reported to whack for 15 mth NS duration which I wonder how to allow newly trained occifer to go w/ 3 mths experience?
Today 1 says SG can go w/o manufacturing sector.. So more IR???
To think e guy was from MTI
it'll be really really scary if they actually believe in it ...... I think it's just in their manifesto for good soundbite, since it tickles this generation's young men right between their balls ..... those boi boi's who need their marias to carry their fieldpacks for them would certainly love to hear that .....
Err Fatum do u want to bring Tookie over tonight ?
Weekdays I'm afraid I might be home late unless u don't mind coming over late
tomorrow can ? ... since I'll be stuck in church from evening till 1am tonight .... *sweats ... -__-"
and thanks ! ... ![]()
Fatum, to think some are govt scholars.
Academically capable, but all these questions sometimes makes one wonder problem solving capabilities
I think when LTK said giving e growth divd is raiding e reserves I was alrdy like, tat's why e PAP still wins. -_-"
Tat growth divd is from budget surplus, how can it be related to land sales?
I mean ya la, if they collect lesser property tax, they'll probably get a smaller surplus to dist e growth divd...

Yeah I'm going to church later too but I don't think I'll be there for so long
NP. N u can be assured the cats won't do anything to Tookie. In fact I think Tookie is very capable of inflicting damage on them since Tookie is way bigger than they are
Oh tomorrow is fine but it has to be after 6pm

They were once a part of the government - maybe that explains why we're in the situation we find ourselves in now.

let's be fair, most issues that we face as a country today are quite intractable problems ... there are no easy solutions, no win win ones. One good example is the cost of living issue. Sure, cost of living has been rising, it is kicking everyone in the nuts. But show me an easy solution ....Note that none of the opposition parties have dared tackle this problem with any concrete proposals yet, though all of them are riding on this wave of popular sentiments. it is so easy to pass off proposals that sounds good to disgruntled people and win a few votes, but at what cost ?
Sure, tell young men with maids to carry their fieldpacks NS would be shortened to a year, tell the people they'll restrict and cut down foreign workers, tell the people they'd cut down ministarial and goverment salaries, though I have no idea how cutting down the salaries of civil servants and elected officials translates to lower cost of living ... it's easy to hide the bitter pills to the people, and tell them only what they'd like to hear.
You know, all my current clients are engineering and manufacturing SMEs, one of them talked to me about providing my maintenance services to johore the other day, I asked, why ? you're relocating ? Cos the man simply couldn't sustain the raised foreign levies and increasingly restrictive bangla quotas anymore .... simply put, he cannot legally get enough cheap foreign labour, both banglas and mid level tech, to sustain his operations anymore, so he's forced to entertain the idea of relocating to johore, despite his saying that singapore's easy business environment and super connectivity beats johore's hands down (the man's a malaysian) True, only about 30% of his current head count are singaporeans right now, (I know, cos I do his HR package, I also know how much he's paying foreigners, and how much better he's paying locals) some operations chaps, safety officers, some engineers, but when he relocates, the ah tiongs and ah nehs would have to go home, but this 30% Singaporeans would be farked, here (he doesn't have to spend money on a safety officer up north either, lol). Now NSP just proposed to raise the E-pass salary threshold from 2.5k to 4k ... kranji, senoko, tuas, pioneer, are all gonna see a lot of for rent signs ...
I once read an american commentary about (their) democratic process, that 90% of it is driven by emotions and drama, and only 10% by reason ... of course, it's hard to make unhappy people, disgruntled people, see the other side of reason. I can only hope that that 10% driver can make people see that the solution doesn't really lie on the other side either. So void the vote if you have too .... and not, like I've said before, cut off your own penis just to spite a particular CB ......
because of today's profiling, it's inevitable to have foreign workers in e manufacturing industry. It same goes to e services sector.
But they raised e S-pass levy I think cos they're targetting all foreign workers & PMETs.
Seriously the govt itself can cut it's overheads as well. Ministar's pay could result in millions of dollars of savings ![]()
Tat said, some govt dept like MINDEF, there's ways to cut down on their wastages further.
Actually I think those on work permit no need raise FT levy coz that will just kill the SMEs
What ppl are pissed are those in executive to management positions la, jobs which Singaporeans can do and want
somemore their influx I think has created some form of rat race in school or workplace.
I admit some reasons younger Singkies not like e old gen, but it does not mean creating rat race everywhere
