Actually in reality, from sources saying is things are pretty screwed.
There's shortage of bus drivers, not enough double decks...
Like again it's politics. That Yeo Chiew Tong went around giving people a useless small 7 mins freq Circle Line to 'replace' buses.
In fact if I didn't remember wrongly, that was the beginning of the period double decks began to be replaced by single decker buses.
Then e drivers wage is pretty low to begin with, $1300 - $1500 a month for a 10 hr day shift.
But I gotta whack at something on my recent double deck bus ride, some would not believe this. I remembered taking bus, the lower deck was packed, but 30 - 40 seats was empty on the upper deck.

SBST side, I buy their plea that their new buses need money. They have purchased nearly 2000 new buses and they are not bad at all. Fine. I pay 1 cent more per trip to stretch my legs and snore (the new legroom is generous)SMRT side......no excuse. actually the buses services are fucked up too. at least for the buses I have to take.

All it takes is for one person to investigate upstairs, and once he's found seats, tell the people downstairs to move up. Even the driver could take a look with his camera, unless he's a mute FT. That is civic-minded behaviour which has nothing to do with the companies or politicians.

SMRT Corp was part of Lau Lee's plans for gabrament to corporatised.
But lau lee forgot that Hong Kong's MTR forked out e money to build and operate the MTR itself, here is like I've said over funding, property devt and profit reporting.

they can squander that all? what are they? morons?
okay.. they may squander it all..
well, add to that.. SMRT ridership was around 52m monthly.. subtract an amount for the senior citizens, you get around 45m... multiply by 0.02¢ you get $900,000 a month, free money..
SBST is around 87m.. to get around mayb 78m to get around $1.5m a month.. again free money...
so.. is this amount going to pay the workers? or do they get stiffed like i think they would?

A large part of SBST's money went to fleet renewal.....and they need to keep some spare cash to purchase even more buses over the next year or so. Roughly in the figure of >200 double-decks which cost more.
I don't know about SMRT side. No new buses, no signifcant upgrades that I can see. Use CCL to claim additional cost incurred running it below capacity.

They overestimated CCLActually they down-rated CCL's overall ridership to 400,000 now... It used to be 500,000
I predict with 7 mins CCL freq into Pasir Panjang, Science Park & NUS, it'll only do more to crowd e SBS buses.
mmm.. Resources aren't well utilised eh...
