At least....don't let it balloon to the extent of my uncle....who's now practically blind and recently had his leg amputated. All because of his eating habits then, which was to makan everything on the table on the pretext of "waste food = sin".

How does HBP lead to gangrene or whatever that required the amputation?

my uncle had a whole host of problems starting with HBP + diabetes.
of course while diabetes was the main cause here, there's little doubt that HBP made it worse.
the scariest part is seeing how the body starts to fail slowly and then the organs start to go and then they start hooking you up to the machines.
and what's worse is that you dont die at once.

High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease etc tend to go together if left uncontrolled.
