Frankly speaking I wonder how much more MOE will pander to the ninny parents.
I dont see how depriving hardworking students their moment of glory will lead to less stress.
It doesnt.
Worse.
Why are we trying to hide the dog-eat-dog world from students when we should be teaching them they should look for their innate advantages and work them to their benefit? That was in fact the aim of the streaming process!
But everybody wants their kid to get scholarship. *shrugs*

focus has always been grades... not teaching the kids to do their best and to learn things... not for the sake of exams

I am inclined to blame the education system.
But when I look back at my own education path, I am now more inclined to blame parents.
Rather than blame the institution for encouraging rote learning, parents should do a complementary role in guiding the development of kids by telling them that they can develop outside of the institution.
The institution is not perfect. It can never be.
It might be focused on grades and so on at the moment. So?
For all the talk about what "holistic testing", "continuous assessment", I suggest parents should try to be students themselves to see how it feels to have their theoretical foundations continually disrupted by all the distractions.

all fighting for the wrong things... even students expectation has changed... esp at tertiary level... The Keppel's Chairman has stated how dire the situation is.. no more the days of brighter students taking up the engineering course challenge...

Parents who expect the institutions to do every sh!t for them.
If the student is serious about developing soft skills, there's no need to wait for the institution. Most uni students in fact would have realised this long ago.
There's no need to keep pushing for PROJECT WORK as a GRADED exam and stuff. It just stresses the student out unduly.
And PSLE is not the end. I know of many people who have taken longer routes to get to where they want when they have figured it out.
Indeed we cant expect students to know what they want at age 12. But there's also no need to see ANY exam at that stage as THE END when there are ways and ladders to climb at many later stages!

actually the students part I'm trying to say is challenging oneself... anyway true also.. everything has to be graded... has to go w/ the rules...

Oh yeah, there are plenty of students out there who expect jobs to land on their lap.
The sad fact is that now that I am going to graduate, I can see now why the govt is so growth-obsessed.
The job market now is extremely terrible for us. Depressed pays and extremely stiff competition with many firms also streamlining now.
I am no govt supporter. But I think I can start seeing where they were looking.

actually the economic pie is supposedly being able to grow.. but you see our structure... SMEs cannot survive because of labour issues other than cost... [tell ppl shift ppl, ppl suan le]... the bigger co are eating the pie... see your grocery trade you know... it's too concentrated.. but they still dun realise it...

but ah 2601.. here also another problem... if ppl challenge the rule that's still within the acceptable range, sometimes ppl up there also dun know how to react and respond... typical...

Build Operate Transfer Typically to build the network, they buy the land from zheng hu for the station and depot for a stipulated period i.e. 30 yrs... Finance the construction themselves... Aft 30 yrs, either contract can extend or govt takeover at zero cost... That's why MTR can develop property, land is theirs...
