Google Maps isn't perfect either. Week in, week out, we organise our gatherings on Dunlop Street and there'll always be one or 2 people who end up walking up and down Serangoon Road because that's where the pin is.
Instead, I blame the inability of certain people to use proper maps and street directories. They've become so reliant on these devices that they've neglected basic orienteering skills.
All the more reason to not be an early adopter.
Seriously, if something new comes out, I'll never be among the first to buy it. Let the early adopters face all the bugs and screwups. I'll buy v1.1 when it comes out.
Anyway, that said, I have to agree that technology is becoming a bane in many ways.
Before the days of Google Maps, people would learn to read maps and street directories properly.
Before cellphones, people would make an extra effort to be on time for appointments, because you can't just call while on the road if you're going to be late.
Before SMS, people would write essays without fear of shorthand creeping in. I've seen my students write things like '2dae' or 'tmr' in their essays or book reports out of pure habit.
Before digicams, people would be careful with photography, because you can't waste precious film on poor shots.
The list goes on.
Seriously?
10k fine for telco?
Just another fine example of the SG market.

My network location service has failed inexplicably many times over the past couple of weeks and left my IRIS, to name an app, functionally useless.
I have.
I thought it was my phone going wonky, but when my phone loses the signal, usually my tablet loses the signal too.
Oh yes.
My 2G network has also gone wonky.
Call halfway, break off.
Call can't even get through.
Keep getting sms: xxxxxxxx tried to call u xx times when you were not contactable.
Who said I wasn't contactable?
Its the friggin network not me!

They made a mistake in offering 12GB to all 3G customers.
By the time they realized that the infrastructure could not take it, it was too late.
Now they have to face the complaints of recontracting/new customers who get 'only' 2GB while being forced to honour the 12GB that they offered to longtime customers.

even though i have 12gb and shared between hp and tablet. i only clock avg 2gb a mth, usually less
I hardly hit 1GB
And that's more because the stupid infrastructure doesnt allow me to most of the time.
The problem isnt the cap...
The problem is the mentallity that u have 12Gb, U will attempt to spam more every now and then when u got nthing to do...
Besides, our population density is sky high compared to few years ago...
Dun say our telecomm service, even our MRT breaks down...
