No more nice chee cheong fun for breakfast.![]()
The doomsday naysayers don't get the point about the Mayan calendar..... 21st December 2012 is simply the end of one calendar, and 22nd December 2012 is simply the beginning of a new one. It's just like how 31st December is the end of one year, and 1st January is the beginning of the new year.
Saying that 'the world will end on 21st December 2012' is akin to saying that the world will end every year on 31st December. Even the Mayans themselves do not believe that the world will end today.
Disturbingly, my mother told me about how some women at her religious class actually asked her religious teacher about the possibility of the world ending today. *facepalm*
I was happily unplugged from the world data traffic for the better half of the week.
When I got back last night, I heard the NEL broke down and people preparing for doomsday.![]()

They believed that it's the start of another phase in history. The one that just passed, Mexican time, gave rise to the human world we live in today so it's the beginning of another era. All this stuff about gods returning to earth and natural disasters is the result of mixing up Aztec beliefs with Mayan ones.
Then again, we have another 24 hours before an earthquake or a massive solar flare so we're not out of the woods yet.
