I think it's just sheer stubborness. They refuse to let go of certain tenets such as meritocracy (recruiting only those who have done well), minimal welfare and letting market forces dictate prices and make services more "efficient".

the 2nd ministers/ministers of state who want to be seen as good loyal yesmen to the ministers then put a nice box on the fertiliser and tell the ministers "this is great plant food and will promote growth"
the minister hoping to get even bigger bonuses and "carry" the PM then report to the PM, promoting the stuff that "this is the most amazing new stuff which will result in growth.. and when it grows, we can give ourselves bigger bonuses"
and this is how shit becomes policy
The muppets run his FB page and block the negative comments, rendering his social media efforts useless.

In the meantime, I'm really sick and tired of people claiming that WP is the MIW's 'B Team' or that they have been too docile in Parliament.
Please lah. We have no use for Taiwanese-style politics while parliamentary sessions are as good as WWE events. On my part, I am happy with simply rocking the boat.
I do NOT want an opposition strategy which will scuttle the boat, machine-gun the survivors in the water, and drop depth charges at all those that went down with the boat.

A few years ago, I remember reading a copy of Teenage magazine.
In the classifieds, there were ads like 'To the girl I saw on bus 169 in that pink top at 2 pm on 4th January, I'd like to get to know you, please SMS 9876 5432.....'
I laughed my head off at ads like that.

There are 2 seperate cases I know of (on forums), which in the end the poster DID manage to find the intended person, and in 1 case, they married few years later...As for magazine, it was quite a popular "try-your-luck" method during my secondary school days with the Teenage and Teens magazine...
And fudge... Sorry but this is simply too much for me to resist... I gotta ask you this: why are u reading teenage few years ago...? how many years exactly is "few" *rub chin*

The last time I read it was in the Army. Some fella brought it to camp.
We would all huddle around those 'try your luck' ads and laugh our heads off.
My buddies actually considered sending some troll SMSes, but I persuaded them that it would be too cruel to do so.

The issue of meritocracy is not abt the fundamental issue.. It's more of how they applied it... It's narrowed to only mainly how well you do in school... But not necessary those people are the right people to 'do' things... As for market forces, it's how... I can't say more of how the European nations managed to find a way to use clear market forces w/ govt binded rules to provide utilities... UK's London is one example... Some things it's clear govt can't run it, for budget and everything would have to be gazetted... -
