Which is more intimate to do with a person of the opposite sex who is not your significant other (whether of not to-be or not-to-be):
1) Hold hands
2) Arm around the shoulder
I personally think holding hands is more intimate. It's something only a couple should and will do. No. 2 seems more common now between friends.
(Which is probably why I find it funny when Sylvester said that he and Maia hold hands 'cos they're friends..?!?!?! I don't believe.) -

Depends how they look at each other when they hold hand or when putting arm around the shoulder. But as a general rule, i wud deem both actions equally intimate. hold hands. sometimes my guy frds will like big brothers put their arms around my shoulders, feeling is good, but not as intimate as hands.

So it relly depends on each individual. As for myself, i choose holding hands bcos, i believe a local girl will not let a guy hold hands so easily. As for Sylvester's case, i think he has no choice cos dun forget, sgidol is a replica of Americanidol. -
