Anyways, I thought Sigmund Freud's theories are thoroughly debunked today? Yah he is considered the father of psychology because he was the first to consider using the scientific approach in the investigation of the mind, and his studies did influence the development of psychology as a science. But I thought most of his theories are regarded as false liao?
I don’t think he is considered the ‘Father of Psychology.’ But he is the ‘Father of Psychoanalysis’ no doubt about that.

(William Wundt, is generally regarded as the ‘Father of Psychology.’)
Actually Freud thought he was using scientific approaches in his studies of human behaviours. The truth is his approaches such as free association, dream interpretation, etc hold little/no validity.
However, psychodynamics provides a starting point for understanding human behaviour in its entirely and laid the foundation for other psychologists such as Melanie Klein.
