  IT's tough to be an Internet writer, really.
  Book writers, journalists, and even copywriters don't get the same kind of treatment bloggers do - people nitpicking on every grammatical mistake, pre-pubescent teens in forums saying my mum's so fat, if she rolled over twice she would reach Batam, etc.
  
  And then there are the nerd bloggers - the doctors and so on - who are very unhappy indeed that a young girl with grammar trouble can become Asia's most popular blogger instead of themselves.
  
  They scoff and proclaim that they are real writers while I am a mere blogger.
  
  Aha! No more of that nonsense.
  
  I am a New Paper columnist now! I am a real writer! (Read in same tone as Pinocchio saying he is a real boy.)
  
  TOUGH THINKING
  
  It is not an easy process thinking about what will fill up this column each week, while mentally going through what the other columnists are doing. It seems like everything has already been written about.
  
  For a fleeting moment, I thought of doing a reverse Sumiko Tan and going on about how I am only halfway to that stage where life begins - 20 - and how many wedding proposals I am getting - around three so far.
  
  Then it struck me that if I were to maintain my column till I am 40, I would definitely be annoyed by some arrogant young chick teasing me, so I dropped the idea.
  
  Friends and I then decided on horoscopes stating that all Sagittarians will be pinched by different things each week and that all Taureans will get hot sex.
  
  In the end, we decided on doing what I got famous for: Complaining about things around me, and cooking up imaginary situations - like coming up with invented interviews with different celebrities.
  
  Do drop me an e-mail with any suggestions - and my heartfelt sympathy to that poor fellow.
  
  Wendy's blog, www.xiaxue.blogspot.com, won the Best Singapore Blog title in the Asian Weblog Awards in 2002 and the Best Asian Blog award in the international Weblog Awards last year. She will be writing here every week.

  thats her alrite...was from my school. my frens fren...shes quite a bold girl, the type that just says whatever she feels. and she looks like a total different person without makeup. n yes shes quite "bakbak" although she looks slimmer in photos.

  yes i must say this gal has got some spunk, no matter how obnoxious her posts/pics/column may be.
  
  kind of a guilty indulgence reading her blog i may admit.
  
  but as honest as you think her blog may be, it broaches over-dramaticism. for xiaxue, things are never just OKAY.
  
  they are either horrific or edenic; people are either hateful or lovable. such black-or-white portrayals are hardly realistic if you ask me. anyone get the feeling she blogs for the sake of her readers...
