anyway.... are those pre-employment check-up, university admission check-up equally thorough ???
Usually pre employment check ups are the usual urine test..blood test..eyesight and medical history. Some company requires more information depending on the nature of the jobscope which they think that certain illness or diseases might affect the work performance of inflict danger.Originally posted by browniebaobao:

it's not a matter of trusting them as professionals but rather if they are professional enough to be trusted.Originally posted by deathscythe99:I guess u've to trust them as professionals lor...
if i'm not wrong, you can only go to the doctor your employer wants you to go right? If that's the case, the doctor and company already have an agreement on what the doctor should look for depending the nature of your job.Originally posted by chguy:hmm..i will have a pre employment check up soon. What should i expect? is it dependent on the company policy?? or the doctor??
Next time if you want to play safe, just request for a chaperone.Originally posted by Ponders:if i'm not wrong, you can only go to the doctor your employer wants you to go right? this reminds me... if you are beyond certain age and buying life insurance.. don't they require you to go thru a check up also?
When it comes to any physical examination... Make it a habit to ask precisely what the doctor intend to do for you. Particularly when you're asked to lie down on a bed, draw a curtain so that examination could be carried out, asked to remove / lift up / pull down any of your clothings.Originally posted by Ponders:that's what they always say a patient should do "ask for a chaperone".
But in actual case... the patient would usually be too shocked to think and simply comply the "order" at hand and feel uneasy about it.

Was in a very busy polyclinic once and they did not have enough female nurses to chaperone...that day for some reason all male doctors. Overheard the nursing sister arguing with the doctor.
The male doctors [b]all wanted chaperones before they would see the female patients but as a result, the patients could not have their injections, blood tests and blood pressure taken. They even took the clerk and pharmacy nurse, everyone had to wait like crazy. They tried to 'share' one chaperone between two doctors but when both had female patients, one doctor would just shake leg until the chaperone came along.
The sister was saying that the doctors were crazy to want chaperone even for little girls and old women but the doctor said you don't know who will sue nowadays.
