Guess u haven't heard of the phrase "As long as there's land, there's chinese".
Your defination of "Chinese" is mixed up because in yr country its refered to as "Zhong Guo Ren" which is why u called yrself "Chinese" instead of "Chinaman".
But over here n other region of the world "Chinese" simply means "Hua Ren" or "Hua Yu" or "Hua Yi".
Most of the time people who are born in other countries even for us , so called "Spore Chinese" who's forefather came from china, would called ourself chinese as in "Hua Ren" even thou trend is newer generations like 4th or 5th or 6th might slowly wanna forasake this this chinese trail they have.
Its all in the blood my friend.......think about it!!!!!!!!
Don't like being labelled "Chinese" than can always find some other race to mix blood than called yrself other race....simple

just cos china was undeveloped doesn't mean that u became less chinese... in the same way, we are not more chinese now because of it.
i speak the language, i live by the culture, i remember the stories of my grandparents who came from china in the 30's but i DO NOT identify with a mainland chinese.

american is a nationality too. Their race are either english/white, black/african, mexican, etc. Their ancestors were from Europe or England.
