CONFERENCE on climate change being held in Australia took a turn for the unexpected when strippers started performing - as part of the entertainment at a dinner on Wednesday.
Their costumes included fishnet stockings, hot pants and bustiers.
Some participants walked out of the event that was part of the government-sponsored conference in Canberra, reported the Sydney Morning Herald yesterday.
Said one attendee: 'I honestly could not believe my eyes when a woman covered in balloons started prancing around as delirious male scientists popped them with a pin.
'This was followed by a series of women on stage dressed in almost nothing making jokes about being ridden.'
Conference organisers later apologised for the entertainment, which was cut short 10 minutes into the planned 45-minute segment.
The source said: 'If this is the Australian government and male-dominated scientific community's idea of conference entertainment, God help us all.'
One of the dancers said that, in hindsight, the organiser who booked the strip show should have told the scientists beforehand.
