There was this Japanese manager who was transferred to S'pore a few months ago. He looked young, ard 30+, very friendly towards ppl. He often came into my office to ask me provide him manpower for his trials. He recently he came in a few times for no official reasons, juz 2 chit chat w mi. When he was joking ard/discussing work w mi, he often used both his hands 2 push mi on my back or pat mi on my shoulders (in front of my subordinates). When he was away, my colleagues told mi tatz considered molest.... Really?
But, i tot the society is getting open-minded? If not, wat shld i do? Are Japanese open-minded? He's one of my boss yo...

hmm.. japanese office mannerisms are like that.. in Singaporean context, thats not called office harrasment but juz like a gesture saying good job or well done.. if he slap u on ur butt or something to that extend, then that is molest and u can report to police and

Get the guys colleagues to educate him a bit abt mannerism in sg...cos it is different in Japan...they are a more open society in terms of sex and ...mi got a huge shock when mi first time go Japan...mi go book shop and there sell X-rated books,...and lot of pple browsing there too...and in their train. guys and gers will read these x-rated books like nobody's business...
So, he has a lot to learn, the easy way...or the hard way (rottan way)

he's your superior so he can treat you as someone younger, and some contact on shoulders or back is ok. butt is suspicious liao
forget about educating them about local culture if you are in a jap firm with jap bosses at the top level. there is a glass ceiling that local managers cannot break through, and because they keep a gap between their own and locals, there is no way they are going to bother about what you think. what they think is way more important. -
I know some ladies don't like that... But it's rather common and can be very much part of a culture... But if you're really don't like that, you can always tell him in the face.... If he shows intentational tendency to REPEAT.... Errr...I remember once, Straits Times did a lot of articles on rape and molest. Got definition of exactly what is considered 'Molest' in SG law...sumting like if for acquaintence/colleagues, can touch back above waist in social context...can not touch towards front of side (reaching near stomach n breast lah) or somethin like dat.
Very easy...if U shy shy, ask a colleague or frienf to call any CID (CID is best for dis kind of info..ask other stations, U may get different answers!) to find out EXXACTLY IS MOLEST....safer to know den dun accuse wrongly or get molested without you knowing -
