Headline: Young guys are inferior to gals

The cause of this inferiority is due to the army (which is important).
However, this will give us a 2-year disadvantage in career over the gals of our age. In work place, we may have seniors who are younger than us, yet we have to listen to their instruction.
Secondly, after 2 years of training in army, our critical thinking for study has somehow been lost in the woods. As such, many of us will feel the inability to excel in study in which we used to be able to before enlistment. Gals, on the other hand will not have this problem. Thus, even compared to gals 2 years younger our age, our study will lose to them. In addition, prior to admission into university, the gals will have some temp jobs where maybe, they can pick up some working experience. As such, upon graduation, with our lousier grades and lack of working experience, we can only find lousier job with lower pay. The employer (except TLC) in Singapore generally will not pay guys with a higher salary for his NS. Thus, we feel even more inferior. Of course I am refering to the starting point of career. What happen after that probably I am not too sure as I have not reached there. But having a good starting leads to half the battle won. So we guys have lost half the battle? Are we discriminated? -
I tend to disagree. In the long run, 2 years is not really a long time.
Also in Uni, I find guys tend to be more matured and can handle pressure better. Also since we had taken a "break" from studies, we tend to appreciate school life better. -
I'm still pondering... Why can't females serve the country for 2-3 years too on the service side? We sure can use some nurses or cooks?
I think having NS pulling the guys backwards and the LAW propelling the females forward is SHOWING an EFFECT on the long run.... FINALLY... Females wanna climb up corporate ladders and ENJOY life as they certainly have much more 'capability' to do so nowadays.... Not many wanna marry, let alone HAVING CHILDREN....

2.5 years are still valuable to me. i suggest implementing an optional accelerated 1 year NS. young men can opt out of the conventional 2 or 2.5 years NS to directly go into 1 year crash-course (100% on the ball and 0% lobo period) Commandos mono-intake. i can foresee the building of another Commandos camp to handle the heightened influx of enthusiastic young commandos. -

the 2.5 yrs r not fully utilised for training, but may be required, b'cos they need to maintain a sufficient number of personnel who are 'active'? if 1 yr only, it'll reduce the no. of pple who they can activate immediately...

2.5 yrs of ns to me its damn long esp u are not intend to sign on. juz ask ur dad if he still rmb hwo to strip down a M16.. i wonder if dey still rmb.. y not juz 1 yr NS like person haf said and haf more reservist... 2.5yrs its like crap when some person even posted in CLERK.. zzz.. does a clerk can protect u when SG is in war?
