I think there's nothing wrong with that provided the ger is earning a reasonable amt of money herself. To many gers, retail therapy is a good way to destress themselves. Possession of a luxurious item gives them a sense of satisfaction from their hard work.
I bought a LV wallet from my ger on her bday for abt 500 plus. And seeing her so happy makes me feel happy too.
However, those working part-times, or not earning much, or have to beg from parents / bf / siblings shd definitely be discouraged from buying such luxurious items. -
