I want to buy a new set of PC speakers those kinda really powerful type even you full blast also no distortion one very clear one lah .I saw one very chio one at challenger about $360+ the whole set of speakers are transparent is it good or not?Can anyone recommend pls .if not any other speakers to buy.

think the one you saw is the harman kardon (pardon me if wrongly spelt) one right. personally, i feel that this set is not worth it as much of the money you pay goes to the extraordinary design. it's sound is not the best also.
also, don't buy speakers from challenger. it's still more expensive even if you have the membership card. go SLS.
2 of the most popular brands of speakers in sg are creative and altec lansing. the latter is one of the more popular brands in the states. i know a pair of good altec lansing speakers ATP3 (2.1) that's really value for money. it cost only 83 bucks at SLS but you have to place the speakers on wooden surface for best effect as the speakers are downward firing.
i'm not really an acoustic person so that's all i could say. webby like hardwarezone shd be useful. in any case, bar seems like an inappropriate forum to post this thread ya. maybe the musicians of The Sound of Music could give u a decent piece of advice?

Unless you are using your PC for some serious gaming, or listening to great CD pieces, there is really no point in spending that kind of money on the speakers. A $20 pair of speakers would do the work.
Alternatively, upgrade your sound card to drive a 5.1 system eg Creative Soundworks-type speaker. The bass in a system like this is worth it 'cos that is where the depth of the sound is. -

also, where are you putting the speakers? if it's inside a small bedroom, a 5.1 might be too overwhelming and you won't want your neighbours to come banging on your door. living room would be good. must also gotta make sure you can easily run the 5 speakers ard w/o making your living rm messy with wires and cables. -

try this one.. cost around 150-180.. altec lansing.. it's the one that Xbox showroom(even ps2) uses. look for that one. There are 2 types(forgot the model liao). A better one and a average one.looks nice, fierce and powerful.... try that. At least i find it quite worth the $$.As for creative...i dun like the speakers....
