Don't leave home without identification papers
DON'T leave home without it - some form of identification, that is. Or you might just be unlucky enough to end up spending the night locked up in the police station.
This was what happened to my boyfriend on Feb 12. We parted ways shortly before midnight, promising to call each other after we got home. His call never came and when I tried calling his mobile phone, it had been switched off.
It was only at 8am that I finally got a call from him and learnt that he had been locked up the entire night. His offence? He wasn't carrying any form of identification when approached by three police officers on patrol.
He was handcuffed, taken to the police station and locked up. His mobile phone was confiscated and requests to call someone to fetch his passport were turned down repeatedly.
My boyfriend is from China. I asked an officer whether he would have been treated the same way if he had been a Singaporean. I was told that this was the standard procedure.

Ms Teo claimed that her boyfriend was stopped by police in the street.
When he was found without any identification papers, he was taken to the police station and kept there overnight.
She further alleged that police seized her boyfriend's mobile phone and that he was not allowed to get anyone to take his passport to the station. This is inaccurate.
On Feb 12 about 12.45am, police were alerted by a member of the public to a drunk man at the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange.
When our officers arrived, they found Ms Teo's boyfriend lying on the floor. He smelt very strongly of alcohol.
He was incoherent, unable to stand and care for himself. He was also not carrying any identification papers.
Our officers then took him back to the Tanglin Police Division HQ to ascertain his identity and allow him to sober up in a safe environment.
In accordance with our operating procedure, all the personal belongings of the detained man, including his mobile phone, were kept in a locker at the holding bay where he was held.
In the course of the night, the drunk man vomited and our officers had to help him clean up.
He became sober only about 7am. He then contacted his friend on his mobile phone. The friend subsequently arrived at the police station with his passport. After verifying his particulars, police released him unconditionally.
We thank the public-spirited person for alerting police to the incident.

remind of this article that i read in newpaper on thur or fri
abt this philiphine tourist who were arrested in a raid or something and were released after that...
despite they told the police they were tourist and the police refused to check their passport.. -

but...it muz be noted tt the big boys will always try to cover-up and refuse to admit wrong........................ -
The moral of the story .... there are always two sides of the coin, the public incline to naturally sympathise with the victim. But alas the victim may not always be innocent ......

Section 18:-
Drunkenness in public places
18. Any person who is found drunk and incapable of taking care of himself, in any public road or in any public place or place of public amusement or resort, or in the immediate vicinity of any court or of any public office or police station or place of worship, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one month and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months. -

Well i'm not being biased here,Three incidents taught me to be extra careful with this kind of foreigners.
Incident 1>Beach Rd,A group of 5 drunken Thai beat up a chinese S'porean just because of a staring incident.I called the police but they manage to get away.
Incident 2>4 Chinaman cursing and beating a S'porean chinese hostesses girl outside a KTV lounge just because she refuse to let them touch her.The police had to step in when someone call.
Incident 3>A group of maybe 6 Indian national start cursing my friend @ Little India because he unintentionally run into them while running to catch the bus.My friend even apologised for that,But one of them say that if not because he is working in here,He would probably kill him if it was in India.Bastard ,Ya ya some more. -
