btw the tax of beer decrease by 7%
dosent make sence when i hear people saying that government wanna indirectly make us quit smoking by increasing taxes....
wat about drinking? drink more good for health?
come to think of y beer tax decrease is maybe because singapore produce Tiger beer so that it can encourage people to drink more because its cheaper and thus gain more profit? i see double standard here...

Why do smokers have to bear the brunt of tax increases? If we choose to die, let us die! unlike drinking, which often causes fights and kill other ppl instead! the recent news of the guy who throw his lover down the building, he is said to be reeking of alchol, ban people from drinking in public or those who have been drinking from public then, why do i not see such actions?!
you ever heard of anyone getting into fights after they had too much to smoke?! They claim they wan to discourage ppl to smoke cos it causes heath problems, but they bring down alchol prices will cause more social problems also!!! Bottom line is all about $$$$$$$

Come on guys. This is singapore..So what if the GOV or rather PAP rasies the cigg tax.. or even all the tax...What is the people going to go abt it.Riot,strike or whatever.... Singaporean will only talk(like what we are doing now.) and no action. And even if u do ever have any action, u will most proberly end up in jail if not lost all your $$$.Anyway, however much singaporean complain, they will still ahve the $$ to smoke, drink and buy new cars...

I had went to Australia & New Zealand... The cigarette there cost $10 - $14... We are catching up with them... But I think the true purpose is to act as a deterence to those people who want to pick up and also to 'convince/ persuade' the rest to quit....
