Do you know that the government is such a bloodsucker when it comes to boys? My mother's boss had to pay $300 000 just to sent his son abroad for university. Whats the big deal of losing a few recruits after all its made COMPULSARY!

Imagine soldiers killing without mercy and humilating the Women. What if the victims are your loved ones or worse.. you're the victim. History textbooks area good enough for a lesson in the WWII. Maybe you can say that who can ensure all those ppl will fight off the enemy.. you might be surprised.. in a war, those who don't know how to fire a round or handle weapon will want to fight.. Its because they can't stand the way they are treated .. this true if the loved ones died in the enemy hands.. sure you want revenge??
Its true that Singapore is a small country. You know that our army is build for deterence to aggressor and not becoming the aggressor.
2.5 Years working in a huge organization is lucky man... You won't have the chance next time unless you run a army
I think that all Singaporean man whether you're PES A to E who had served the country should remain proud irregardless of rank.
Some times you might hate Army but if war really starts
you won't think that its a good idea.
Its true that Man has disadvantage by going to the Army after JC or Diploma.. if you look it taht way, you might see that Woman is at disadvantage too.. because their national service is even longer on the thought of having a third child.

I do like to make a quick point here.
Who says Singapore can't have a self-volunter NS systems? Who says Singapore can't conscript women into the fighting force?
The answer to these question is yes!
But the real question is it viable to do so?
Employing a self-volunter system, in my opinion depends on the population and the mentality of the population.
Should Singapore become a self-volunter system, can we built up a sizeable force based on our current poplulation?
Second, don't compare singapore with japan and any other country because the mentality of the people is different. If we don't use law? How many of Singaporeans would actually sign up?
Just a few thoughts to ponder about. -

Oh okay I understand your post now. You are saying that NS is necessary to defend Singapore. I disagree, I think there will be more than enough volunteers who would love to go to war. Singapore is generally very pro-war. Every time there is a discussion like this there are always plenty of people for war, you, SNK, wuming, fireice etc, while only a few are against it. It isn't like Singapore will have no army without NS. I am sure there will be enough even without it.
