The annual NKF show seems to highlight the fact that SG artist sorely lacks the singing, acting talents. I am not talking abt the professional ones like Sun Yanzi, Tanya Chua, A Du etc, but basically, most of Media corp A lister--- Zoe tay, Sharon Au, Chew chor meng, Chris Lee & even Fann wong

canÂ’t sing for nuts. (I know I gonna get tons of flamming for thisÂ… )

In HK, beside the singers ( Jacky cheung, Andy lau etc), many of TVB leading artist are also credible singer--- Gallen Lo, Flora Chan for eg.
Most of the charity gigs in HK & Taiwan are mainly songs & entertainment--- in Taiwan, the performing artists usually belong to the same recording company ( eg Rocks) & in HK, the big time shows are usually organized by TVB.
Even if majority of the local artist lacks the strong vocals, hereÂ’s jus a suggestion: they could adopt the style of TaiwanÂ’s Variety Big Bro ( Zong Yi Da Ge Da) where the performing artist each week showcase their own unique talents--- usually its being able to perform multiple musical instruments or some Opera, comedy, spoof of famous ppl etc.
And given that they only have to perform annually, with more time & bigger budget, media corp could have come up with more interesting performances.
The sharon au segment for example, with all her moaning & groaning, I personally felt it was both unnecessary & overdone.
I mean, jus how far can they go with such stunts? Having to more or less outperform the previous showÂ… are we going to see sharon au swallowing swords or Fann wong doing some Fear Factor stunts next yr

I usually watch the one with foreign singers performing, but the local artist one is usually really too long, too boring… hearing a radio hit sung live by Emil Chau or Andy Lau sure beats watching some local artist torturing themselves… sweating, crying & then making the “ Pls call” sign..
Anyway, my honest feelings--- the intention is noble & laudable; but the approach is simply silly & overdone.
