  I am beginning to suspect that girls are more able to sustain this sort of relationship than guys - at least in the asian context. By your resound YES I suppose you had or are maintaining a "just friends" attitude with the opp sex. But I do not think you can say the same for the other person. For all you know he had/has a secret crush on you. Just my thoughts.

  I guess it is possible infcat it would be nice to have friends and make friends like this. I think its really good to have a nice friend from the opposite sex as it helps us to understand each other better. Mkaes the freindship stronger, but mind you there should be the same innocent need of friendship from both sides onloy then can such friendship work.

  there isn't relli a 'secret' to achieve it
  
  we simply have no chemistry between us
  juz having common interests and able to talk like buddies
  
  more like emotional confidantes...
  
  i have a few platonic frens and most oredi have gerfrens or ger in mind oredi
  and we can eben sit together and gossip and tease one another about it...
  
  i dun particularly go search for a platonic guy fren...it comes naturally...
  if u believe in it, then it can be achieved...
  if u have no trust in it in the 1st place, then dun bother cos u will find urself sinking into more complex relationships...

  This is what I feel too. Ladies seemed to be more capable of maintaining these platonic relationships. Guys, on the other hand, have problems with this. Most likely the guy is interested in the female counterpart, rather then just remaining platonic. Guess we are on the same freq man.
  
  However, I do know of guys who are have quite a number platonic relationships with gals. Well, they seemed like buddies. All of them have either younger or elder sisters. Maybe this's the contributing factor?????
