Sometimes the simple things is enuff to impress a girl... a girl is more impressed by the time and dedication, rather the willingness to spend money on her... -

Then,
Hire a Live Band to play for you...
Of course, there's always the extreme, if you managed to get the ACTUAL SINGER, like Jay Chow and you dedicate the song to her, that works better than you learning how to sing and play the guitar.

Really depends on the situation. as for me - my parents ar still the 'conservative china type ' - so i dun normally bring gals home - even i do, I will tell them Before hand who they are .... ( very important if they are not GF , just cum over for a drink, chat...) -
Very important thing - NO FORMAL DINNERS with parents...( i believe is really a BIG step for me...)
Dun want them to get the wrong ideas - very very sian if they keep askin me about the girl i brought home last week , or the week b4...( some of them ar just gd female friends...but not GF type)
I think some of guys also face this problem, so that is my 2 cents worth of view.

Yeah, learning to play the guitar is quite romantic..but I think most guys won't have the time / energy to learn to play a new musical instrument...
Also, the guitar thingy really remind of JC life....when the guys who could sing was soo 'romantic / sensitive '....

the fisherman village is at pasir ris ... You dun need to spend big bucks to go on tour ... neighbouring countries have plenty of beautiful beach resorts that are both affortable and romentic ... and depending on what sort of activities you like ... you can scuba dive, laze on the beach or simply spend quality time away from the crowd ... it's beautiful... -

Kranji Park - its by the sea, and u can see JB's skyline with the nights on, quite pretty, and quiet.
Kent Ridge Park - can see port and the lights, but real quiet, and the people there are mainly couples.
Mount Faber cable car station - nice view of the sea, since it is high up, and there is also a pub for drinks. My fav. But just a tad bit noisy at times fro the pub. Still the music's ok.
Labrador Park - nice view again, because it is high. but really deserted.
Alkaff Mansion - i think there is an indonesian restaurant there, anyway nice view of the south coastline again, like mount faber, but less impressive.
West Coast Park - less crowded than East Coast. Also got MacDonalds there.

as far as I know there is only the road which U need to enter via shenton...I checked out the AYE-Changi route...no exit for U to enter...

free_eagle: hmm.. My BF and I went to Phuket together. It was really fun, with Phi Phi and all. Back to local places... Bringing a gal back to where you first met is nice, but don't make it obvious. Just drop a line casually saying that, hey, this is where we 1st met (or got together), followed by a little hug or a great big grin. Subtle and sweet. haha! (I'm a really really simple person.. don't like the flashy stuff.)
Try to add an element of surprise when you bring her out. It'll impress her more. I do think that a nice dinner (a chance for her to dress up, and for you to compliment - SINCERELY) at a good restaurant, and a night at a quiet place like Marina South, West Coast, some park, etc will do just fine. As long as it's not like that every date! -

If you're not very old friends with the girl, I would advise not to go anywhere remote. It's not about hanky panky..just that..these places are generally boring. Unless you can chat..and chat..and chat all night long, if not....i see you, you see me lor...sian bo??
Best is somewhere quiet...but can see people buzzing around..things happening on the streets..see other pretty girls(haha!!) ... to strike up a conversation is easier...like that not scared of the awkward silence in case both of you are very quiet..

i'm here not to suggesting any places, since i'm not singaporean and i live in jakarta. but reading ur thread, got some interseting places oredi..hehe..will ask my bf to take me there
first i think, you have to know first what she likes / she's into.
let say..she likes to eat --> then bring her to a fine rest. (got some suggestions oredi)
outdoor type --> bring her go cycling/jogging/swimming also can (as for me i'd be very happy if my bf would spend time with me to go rafting, paragliding or hiking. it's sure VERY fun for me )
outgoing/fun type --> bring her to amusement park, try some rides together --> it's fun n not boring (but i dunno where got this kinda park in sg)
but the most impt. thing is..make sure that she'd feel comfortable when she's with you. cos..no mater how impressive the place is, but when she's not comfy with you..all would be nothing then.
i wouldn't suggest after some drinks at bar/hotel, then u ask her to go upstairs like that...(like jaimeyeo suggested), it's surely not impressive at all, later she'd think u want something in return

Well, i can suggest you eat in the most expensive and luxury restaurant in town! Of course, with flowers and red wine. Then ask some violinist to play a wonderful song~ Then, with cakes, and simply say today is the 10th day we have gone out or anything so we ought to celebrate or just tell her the truth that you trying to impress her and make her happy! I guess the first action of her will be run forward to hugz and kiss you (If she likes you), or turn around and run away (Freak Out).

At there, tell her how you feel about her, how beautiful she is, how silly you are when you try courting her (They will laugh), and tell her how you wish this moment the time freezes and remain forever like this so you can hold her, hug her and have her by your side! If can, well, sleep together in car or body by body means leaning together until the sunrise. Watch the sunrise together.. then go eat breakfast and offer her home. Arrive home, then tell her that you have a wonderful night out and give her a gentle kiss and say good night and you will call her if once you got home but if she too tired, then simply cancel it and tell her that you will call her that night~
