  It's just using plant ink to paint on the body, nothing more. It's not like real tattoo-ing, where they piece the body to inject the ink.

  and if not done properly, can lead to infection. Dont remember how but have read stories about it. also it appears that some people are allegic to the ink so please be careful. As such Henna should be done by experienced Henna artists only that is the advise I read. The ink actually kinda etch into your skin and they can last for weeks.

  Henna tattoo is a tattoo made by crushing (with a little water), the leaves of the henna plant. The crushed mixture is then placed (in elaborate designs) on the body and left untouched for at least an hour. When the mixture is washed off the body part, the stain remains on the body part and acts like a tatto. Usually can last up to a week, maybe more - depending on the quality of henna leaves used.
