So many taxi companies .....

Wondering .... does it work well in singapore with so many taxi companies recently ?
Each company is cutting each other's throat , most companies is nose bleeding with those competitions , does it work overall ?
What's the Plus and Minus of only ONE taxi operator ?

PLUS: easier to get a booking- cab, stretch resources, may lower rentals with increased revenue sources, one management oversees it all, cab companies need not slaughter each other
MINUS: monopoly, price/fares/rental. cannot choose or cannot jump ship, a mess to commuters.. so many colours!, no more promotions to attract commuters, since its a monopoly
still, comfortdelgro is a BIG company, so, actually, a merger wont really affect it, since its doing pretty well now, except diesel and rental aspects..
the 3 new companies i dont think they can survive for long in small sized Singapore!
