WanBao report. 2 company asking for fares ( starting trip ) to increase by 30cents. From S$2.40 to 2.70.

If taxis drivers really want to earn more $$$, they should not sit at coffeeshop too often drinking tea/coffee/horse betting/or fetching china meimei in geylang FOC. They also should be more hardworking rather than go take cover and wait for on call.
Starting fares for taxis should be at S$1.50 flat. Then more people will take a cab instead of other public transport like Trains/Buses. -

they shd do internal review to cut costs on their own operations

why can't they charge by mileage i.e. pay by km travelled?

Daily rental of a cab in Sg at least S$85 exclude GST rite? Thats crazy. But hor, compare to Taiwan, Sg taxi fare cheap liao. I travel a similar distant of 20 mins in Tainan cost me S$25. Thats by meter hor not per head!

Then Singaporean will complain not enough taxis cos it's cheap .

Know something , my daily average diesel bill is about $25 , up from $15 , so it's a $10 increase ...... $10 daily ......if one day i pick 13 , extra only $3.90 , $10 against $3.90 , cabbies still lose some revenue to the oil hike .
okay lor .... cabby absorb 60% , commuters pay 40% , not fair but fine .
Eh , taxi up $0.30 , cannot afford , go take a bus or MRT ...... -
Must up the price to lower down the taxi demand .... cos cabbies getting busier , commuters too many take taxi for granted .
Taxi for me is cater for ON CALL purpose only .
