For those who never call for a taxi and prefer to wait at the taxi-stand , please boycott taxi ...... so that those ON CALL everyday customers can get a cab in 5 minutes .
So they won't say : " I willing to pay $4.00 extra also no cab ! "

Ya lor , 4 person to take taxi cheaper than taking bus , i am saying Singapore taxi prices make no sense at all if like that go on . Bus and MRT is run by Garmen , they acccount only in their own interest ;
as for taxi , it's operated by someone like me , they F*ck care you , that's what i don't like !
Twice MRT and buses fare adjusted , non to taxis .
They adjusted until 4 person taking a cab is cheaper than taking a bus and mrt .
eg , at CCK MRT , if going to CCK St 51 ..... take feeder bus cash 4 x $0.90 ? Take taxi $3.00 ! And taxi sent you all the way to the lift lobby , pay bus more expensive and still need to walk . Make sense ? Taxi is a luxury , but a cheaper than buses luxury ??? Make sense ? No !

This short distance trip a waste of time , during peak hour , ok , got extra $1 !

but then, the demand and supply pattern, well, no matter what, peak hour very difficult to get a flag-down taxi.. really must on call unless its those private taxis -
If you guy try to be a Cab driver will know the 0.30 increase increase for Cab driver is really meagre ...
Most Cab driver only make $50 to $60 a day driving 11 hrs translate to $4 to $ 5 ++ an hour without CPF , medical leave, bebefit , bonus
Only those who cannot find a job no choice then drive Cab -
I've taken taxis before where the drivers were actually failed businessman. What a pitiful story.

There also must be taxis that cater for short distance trip. Eg: Potong Pasir to Serangoon Central near the bus interchange. If take bus during peak hour, the most S$0.83. If take cab, at least S$3.20 plus S$1 peak hr surcharge. they should lower the Taxi rental
now coe only 10 K compared to 40 k last time... cab company making big $$ but the saving not filter down to rental
The garment should cut diesel tax to $2000 from $7000 per year

Poolman, been reading your threads criticising all the commuters, in such situation, you're having a pretty hard time dealing with your job, then why not change job? Or do you think if you change job, there will be a different set of problems? in which case, it may not be the job's problem, it could be due to individual's character that creates the problems, when maybe there isn't much problems at all in the first place. I do find it interesting though, to understand how cab drivers think/feel.
As for the taxi fare hike, it's quite expected bah. And it's also expected that Singaporeans complain will fall on deaf ears anyway, coz history tell us government don't give a damn what we think, they want to add tax, they add, they want to build new buildings, they build, who cares what we think?

he is a top-notch driver. i remember he made 200 a day.

Be careful that cab drivers do not become too expensive or we will see foreign talent in this job as well. In UK, most of the cab drivers are Pakis or Banglas...the local white population just cannot compete. Taxis operate on a call-out basis only (except the big london cabs that are allowed to ply the streest) but there is no additional call-out fee.
Now with GPS available, you can put any foreigner behind the wheel of a cab and start work almost immediately. Cab drivers must be careful they do not price themselves out of the market...taxi companies can just hire foreigners...lots of them prepared to take the job for less pay..
I am not advocating more FT in this job, though...but I see that as a possibility in the future.
