What else is new? The sky is blue?Originally posted by mercyfuless666:hear taxi fare is on the rise again
No , i mean there will be cases when u flag down a taxi , he stopped , and you open the door , ready to step in , backside almost touching the seat , the taxi driver sekali tell you he have a booking , sorry cannot take u , u have to get another taxi .Originally posted by ditzy:So you mean the minute i hop on the cab, and just about to move off, the cabby gets a booking, i have to get off?![]()
No, he cannot do that. If he hasn't put up a sign that says, "Not for Hire' and stops to pick up a passenger, he cannot refuse to take the passenger. He can be suspended if a complaint is made against him.Originally posted by Poolman:No , i mean there will be cases when u flag down a taxi , he stopped , and you open the door , ready to step in , backside almost touching the seat , the taxi driver sekali tell you he have a booking , sorry cannot take u , u have to get another taxi .
That's the scenario .
Trust me , we have a booking , booking became a valid reason for us to tell you nicely to get down , now Comfort used all high technology , no NOT FOR HIRE stuff , all electronic indication .Originally posted by oxford mushroom:No, he cannot do that. I don't do that Cool , i very good service ..... i already got a job as far as 2.4km away . That's my standard ! That's why no complaint .Originally posted by CoolMyth:Wait till more and more people use the "on-call and reject" trick then you know.![]()
Not if you know how to complain. Copy your letter all the way to Minister. MP and newspaper. Two strikes and you are out...LTA can blacklist. Not so easy to join another company.Originally posted by Poolman:Trust me , we have a booking , booking became a valid reason for us to tell you nicely to get down , now Comfort used all high technology , no NOT FOR HIRE stuff , all electronic indication .
Alright , the complaint is made , the most is a telephone call away , telling us : " Please don't do it again ! "
Suspend ? Nowadays most taxi company don't suka suka suspend drivers , they are looking for trouble .
Most hirers would say if suspend , taxi company must well take the vehicle and keys , he'll jump to another company , easily nowadays .
Who's fault ? The Liberalisation of Taxi industry fault .
When they liberalised , they want Competition for customers , they forgotten this is becoming a side effect for taxi comapny .
Foreign drivers will not be able to ask for more money. They are plenty of them where they come from.Originally posted by SBS9889U:Foreign Drivers sure will go for more money too. Then Singapore drivers will complain and the Foreign Drivers will likely have a hard time driving. Support Made in Singapore! Unless u r a foreigner...

"With taxi fares about to rise, I thought it's appropriate I share my daily experience with taxis.
I leave my office at around 4.45pm. At this hour, it's almost impossible to get a cab. There are many empty taxis, but none is willing to stop for fares.
Most of the cabbies can be found waiting in the car parks. Some wait at the roadside till about 5.05pm before picking up fares.
Taxi drivers admit that they wait for the peak hour surcharge to earn the extra dollar. Some admit that they would cruise around to wait for phone bookings because the $4 booking fee, on top of the peak hour and CBD surcharges, would cover their trip back to town.
A few weeks back, I had an unpleasant experience. It rained. Many empty taxis passed me by. They filtered to the outer lane when I waved for them to stop.
I tried to board an empty taxi when the traffic lights turned red but the driver locked the door and showed me the "On call" sign. I was sure he meant that I should book a cab instead. He wasn't on call because the cab's sign didn't show he was "Busy" or "On call".
Taxi drivers claim that their earnings are insufficient but from the way they choose their passengers, it doesn't seem like it. I am sure a cabby who is not earning enough wants to waste time cruising around to wait for phone bookings.
I hope the Land Transport Authority and taxi companies look into this matter as I'm sure my experience is familiar to others as well."

As more complaints build up, pressure will be placed on taxi companies to clean up their act.
So this summed up all i had said thru'out my stay here . Glad i'm not the only driver most people dislike .Go Go Go ..... go sent a petition to all Singaporeans , so that there will be more Fallen Talents drive a taxi .Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Foreign drivers will not be able to ask for more money. Taxi companies can run radiocabs on a call-out/booking basis only like they do in UK. No booking fee at all. You call the radiocab company and they despatch a taxi to you within 5-10 mins. You are charged according to the meter when you start your journey.
Local drivers will be forced to work harder plying the streets if they want to live. That will ensure we have more cabs available at peak hours and they will be cheaper too. Foreigners will be happy to take $600 a month salary...the fares go to the company, they are only paid a fixed salary.

Cabby from Comfort will be SUSPENDED from getting further booking jobs if he reject booking jobs for more than 2 times .
It will be a sorry situation for you , but please understand the cabby , thanks.

Don't tell me , tell Mr Lee , our PM ..... he's boss !Originally posted by oxford mushroom:With increase in taxi surcharge, our cab drivers will play punk even more. They will spend all their time gambling and watching TV in coffee shop until the peak surchage begins. No surcharge on Saturday...these punks will be at the Turf Club instead of plying the streets.
I say it's time to bring in foreign taxi drivers.
