MUST I take this cab?

CABBIES! I've been wondering for very long already!
Take, for instance, you drive the newer type of taxi, those spacious ones like the dark blue ones from Comfort.
One day, you are driving without a passenger. In front of your taxi, is another taxi, except that it's the old model that's still using the neon blue light on top and the taxi is not as spacious.
Suddenly, you see a customer!
But there is that cab in front of you, also empty. You prepare to drive past the cab in front, thinking it will have to stop for the customer.
Aha. But the customer decides not to flag the lousy cab in front and waits for it to pass slightly before flagging down YOUR cab.
1) Will you take that customer?
2) Assuming you will take that customer, will you feel disgruntled because the customer did not follow the order and take the cab in front of you? Or will you actually be happy because you got a customer after all?
Because at the moment, SMART is the only taxi company that has yet to raise its fares right?

Most cabby would only do that if safety permits .
If you suddenly flag for me , i for one would not sudden brake for you , dangerous !
Anyway , infront always got customers , i would chose to drive through .
For you , you can always flag for another . -

but will you be buay song, like "why you don't want to take the cab in front!"
and what if let's say i'm at a taxi stand instead, and i decide to take the cab that's 2nd in queue? i remember there was once i was at the ICA building and got onto the 2nd cab in error, and the cabby didn't want to take me. -
If a Comfort stops infront of you , it's your right not to take his taxi , you may wave him to move on , waving him off , you are not taking his taxi ! No obligation ! At the present situation , we undersood !
I'm so sure if i'm that SMART cabby , i know your reason for waving him off , and i would stop for you . Unless i'm not SMART !
Anyway ..... now everybody rushing for the cheaper SMART , i'm surprised you can flag one on the street , just like that .
They have only 2000 taxis , not easy to get them . -

no la not just SMART cabs... some cabs just look old and cranky and makes me want to avoid taking them loh. -

Taxi stand ? U can always give way to the person behind you . telling the person behind you are taking the second one , if he/she wants , he/she can take the first , if he/she disagree , then ask the third one , the fourth one .... and so on . If you're not malu about the situation . U know what's malu ?
In taxi industry , we have a common professional attitude , taxi stand we always follow Q . We try to protect each cabby's interest .
But it's always customer's choice to insist of taking which taxi they wanted .
Cabby cannot say no , but cabby must tell you nicely , please take the taxi infront of him . Still you insist , they have to oblige .
But no nice la , awkward situation for you and the cabby , right ? -

i think i will feel bad for the cabby in front - maybe he's been waiting since last night? so unless it's really necessary, i'll take the lousy cab in front. -

It happens to me once.
I was driving a merc cab travelling along orchard towers, i saw a indian couple about to board a yellow cab in front of thai embassy. The guy spotted me coming & he instructed his wife/GF to come out of the taxi & wave at me to stop.
I can see the taxi driver getting piss, when getting close to the couple i drove off without looking at them.....
In return, the yellow cab driver give me a thumbs up sign -

my house here abundant cab at night
so will choose for one that is more comfortable.. -

It's also the case to case basis la , sometime the taxi stand only got one passageway , also quite difficult for cabbies .
If the first cab don't move , how the second cab to go thru the passageway ?
Also people behind the Q sure very dulan one , they will asked : " what's the dilly dailly all about ? "
sometimes you Q and got a cab you don't like , no luck lor !

Slowly i learn about the do & don'ts, rules in changis etc.....stress lar, i really pity those new drivers who got F for nothing. -
Actually I don't really like merc cabs... The seats are comfy la, but they make me feel like i'm sinking in and there's not much leg room. but the journey feels smoother than the toyota cabs...
