Let me share the LTA's reply with all who wish to know.
[b]A parting shot for Poolman - I don't think you understand any of the above. Ask your mother to teach you some manners then ask me politely and I shall teach you proper English. Don't just follow LAW blindly. Use your brain, if any.

Do u still believe , he/she a part time taxi driver ?Originally posted by laogenjudi:Harping the same old thing, all. I mean the few who replied or think that they have replied. But in fact they have not answered my fundamental question - i.e. why can't I choose the taxi, more importantly the taxi company, I want?
Whether the driver accepts me or not is another matter. It takes two to complete a business deal.
Most of the (attempted) answers are from the heart rather than from the head, i.e. don't ask question, just give it to the first in line. No doubt, most people here are perfectly conditioned by rules, even if it means surrending their rights.
Try to provide answers to the following
1. How many taxi companies are there in Singapore?
2. Are they all the same?
3. If they are the same, why have different companies?
4. If they are different, why can't I choose the one I prefer?
I am not against queing for taxis. I am appalled at our capitalist cum socialist system. There are many taxi companies, ostensibly to give consumers more choices but in fact to create more managers and directors for the chosen elites. Same for many of the essential services here.
Thousands of taxi drivers are fighting for survival while the big bosses in each taxi company earn big salary. They lay down the rules and if you are not happy they tell you, "You have plenty of choices. Stop complaining."
So where is the consumer's choice?
And do you believe it - I am a part time taxi driver ?

Actually I am about to attend an educational meeting, to discuss things with intelligent people. Since I still have some time, I would like to entertain the three school boys for a while.
Dear Poolman, j441167 and LazerLordz.........
If you cannot accept the truth and eat humble pie, don't join any debate or discussion. Just bluff each other at the school tuck shop. No responsibility needed. It is like farting in a crowd.
But when your pants is obviously stained and smells and affects others, just admit to Mr Lao that you have farted. [b]I guarantee no caning for farting.
If it is just the three of you in the classroom, then enjoy the stench of each other.
