Cab driver arrested on suspicion of stealing from passenger
SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 42-year-old taxi driver on suspicion of stealing items left behind in the vehicle by a passenger.
The passenger's police report, filed at Tanglin Police Division, stated he had left behind his briefcase, a bag, and a bottle of wine in the front seat area of a taxi he boarded at Changi Airport Terminal 2.
Officers of the Airport Police Division traced the identity of the driver and arrested him on 21 June, the same day the report was issued.
They recovered from his home items which included a bag, a laptop, a bottle of wine, and foreign currencies.
The taxi driver is expected to be charged with theft on Tuesday.
If convicted, he can be jailed up to three years. - CNA/yy

dumb singapore law! there's been past cases where convicted shoplifters were only slapped with a fine a couple thousand dollars only.
And in this case, the pax left behind his things and the taxi driver simply took it, and face a jail sentence of up to 3 years?
and in the recent highly publicised cases about people assaulting eg a passerby and if injury is minor, police BO CHAP and classify as a civil case if the victim insists on seeking justice. Come on, which offence is more serious and needs a mandatory jail sentence?
Siao! its full of S*hit!
