It's true that if you kenna accident, you have to cough out $1000.00 for own damage repair, if the fault is your and the third patry claim involve, another $1,000.00 insurance access. If within a year you kenna second time, insurance access shot up to $1,500.00.
Usually if you involve in accident and you happen to be last vehicle, confirmed $2,000.00, they don't even bother to investigate, you go report accident at counter they made you sign the payment form liao.
That why I left this money sucking company to join SMRT. To me, the only thing good about comfort is what poolman always talk about; strong booking, I don't deny that. Other than that, comfort's everything is the most expensive in the market; rental, accident repair, insurance access, booking network charges, etc -
Actually without booking, I still can made decent income from driving SMRT taxi. The problem with booking is that sometime lots of time wasted waiting for passenger to come down, time travelling to the pick up point (you will curse and swear especially during traffic jam), the worst is after waiting 10 mins the passenger never turn up or the booking was cancelled.
Driving taxi as a career can be a relaxing job too. After switching (from comfort to SMRT), I feel more relaxed in my driving, and more I got 24 free rental day in a year, unlike comfort only 3 in a year
Let do the math :
Comfort rental : $93.16(per day) x 365 day = $ 34,003.40
Less 3 rental day = $34,003.40 - $279.48
Total Rental Paid = $ 33,723.92
SMRT Rental : $81.32 (per day) x 365 day = $29,681.80
Less 24 Rental day = $29,681.80 - $1,951.68
Total rental Paid = $27,730.12
Difference = $5,993.80
The key is whether you know where to pick up passenger. I made almost the same amount as I was driving comfort, without the stress, frustration. And most importantly, I can rest 2 sunday every month, while in comfort, I got to drive like a bull. -
Oh i forgot to add that you have to pay network charges for all booking, ranging from $0.40-$0.70 per booking, depending on type of booking, i.e current or advance. So you don't get to keep all the booking fee by yourself. I use to pay about $120.00-$160.00 network charges every month.
That day comfort was in the news about their satellite booking, I can't remember which day was that. it was reported that the satellite booking system has netted comfort $50,000 daily. Can you imagine the kind of money they made, and this is excluding their rental intake for all more than 11,000 taxis. We poor driver drive like hell and did the companymake any effort to help their driver. When the cost increase, they just pass the the cost to the driver. -
I met a new comfort driver , at a coffe shop , who used to be a SMRT driver , also a fella night shift driver .
We exchanged handphones number , cos we can click .
He drove comfort without any formula , adopting SMRT routine ....
He asked me how much i fared average everyday , i told him , about $180 ...
He said i bull-sh*t .....he later adopted my kind of formula , take booking type of formula .
But ..... he now gets the same amount like me , whereas in SMRT , he earn about $140 , and he's happy for it .... for the last 2 years .
He said he wasted 2 good years in SMRT ....

Rental depends also on .. the age of the vehicle .
Of course if u take a 1 yr old Comfort Blue Crown , against a SMRT 3 yr old Crown , SMRT gets better benefits .
Mine rental is $91.02 / day = $33,222 / 365 days .
I also get Non-Claim Bonus , Performance Incentives , etc ... $1200 a year , chicken feed amount .
On an average , each Comfort drivers can get about 120 pieces of prime time bookings ..... a month . Depending -

If u are a Solo , Comfort not suitable , as the overheads itself kills u .
Especially if u don't take bookings , no point driving a comfort , any company will do . -
SilverCab is the best .... if u are driving a Crown , u will be given 35 days of free-rental . If u are particularly for off days .
24 sundays + 11 public holidays .
SMRT only 24 sundays .... Keangel , u can consider SilverCab .
Better off if u are a One-Man-Show .
I dunno about u , i hate Public holidays !!
Cos Public holidays no business .

$2.50 booking , u take $2.10 , they take $0.50 , for me , it's better than nothing . Better than taxi stand pick , flag down $2.50 .
If u can dash your best for $2.00 peak hour , then off-prime booking is chicken feed to get .

Comfort vs SMRT
Relief drivrs wise .... Comfort can get a relief easier .
SMRT ? More than average , OMO , they can't get a relief as easy as Comfort , cos relief drivers options , and pool is big ... SMRT's pool is smaller . -
Actually when i sign up for comfort relief, i never calculate so much cos I am just attracted to drive sonata. And also relief not much benefit anyway.
I only hope comfort can get me more successful booking esp in town and in uru areas. I remember once i got a call in sengkang area at 4am going to Airport. Si beh heng... So far only 1 out of 8 bookings no show...
About the holiday, I think holiday got business 10am-10pm. But I observed it affects business on that week's Sat badly cos pple already party or went visiting on PH liao. -

I though it is max $1000? Does comfort got this system to reduce excess with a regular premium or not? Relief like me if kena once si beh bo wah liao cos I only drive a bit -

Cabby is better , dun hit people back side .
If accident largely your fault .... $1000 for 3rd party access .
Another $1000 it's your own vehicle cost of repair . U can also chose to go to your own workshop if damage is little . So no need pay $1000 repair cost .
Most people dun understand ...... thought it's stright $2000 , no la .... -
From what I know, you can only do repair at Comfort (1st priority) or 3 authorise workshops (2nd priority) approve by NTUC Income, any repair other than the above is consider not authorised. This was stated in the comfort handbook and comfirm by the counter staff.
By the way, SMRT accident repair and excess are as follow :
12 months or less = Repair $600.00 / Excess $900.00
>12 months to 24 months = Repair $500.00 / Excess $900.00
>24 months to 36 months = Repair $300.00 / Excess $900.00
>36 months = Repair $0.00 / Excess $900.00 -
SMRT taxis have a lot of new driver. This is due to their training allowance offered ($1500) for new driver without VL. They can used that to offset the deposit for new taxis. Most Comfort driver are all very amateur and experience. Silver cab and transcab driver, wow very aggressive, they drive like tomorrow's end of the world. I always saw silver cab speeding at least 140km/h on highway.
By the way, poolman, what is the rental for silver cab crown? -
Comfort is very stringent with their driver's performance, eg, accidents, call booking no show. That's because it will affect their quaterly LTA rating. I got a friend who was involve in two accidents (not totally his fault) within a year and he was terminated by the company the next day after the accident. So sad!

$2 off daily for vehicle exceeding one yr , $4 for the second yr , 3rd year i dunno , Premier haven't reach 3rd year .
Fully determine by age of Crown .
U pay advance also got further discount , like u paid $650+ before u drive , like they give u 2% off from $650 . -

U know about that Security Deposit required to drive a taxi ? Some company $1000 , some $1500 , some $1200 ?
Ok .... Only Comfort and CityCab can be paid in instalments ..... like 6 times instalments or 3 times instalments .... can be negotiate .
The rest of the Taxi Coy is solid cash , no instalments .
So if ur money a bit tight , no need to try Smart , Premier or TransCab , no use .
Only Comfort CityCab can be instalments .
Not sure about SMRT . -
Discipline wise .... TransCab is the most lenient towards their drivers .
That's why if u are ganster type of drivers , join them , fighting no problem .

poolman, ask u har... which night shift weekday is the worst business? I drove tue once and i saw at 7pm suntec many taxis waiting for pax...but i lucky got one booking.. my pax came down from office and also look shocked why so many cabs... wasted her booking liao...
Thu slightly better than tue but yesterday shenton way to suntec bloody jam...
Fri is the best night... no need to look for pax too long.... drive also shiok... Any sonata drivers looking for relief for only Fri 5pm to 5am please let me know. Me very responsible relief one. Location negotiable as long as not in west or woodland/yishun. i got own transport.

According to my colleague , they usually struggle on Monday ... some Thurday .... Wednesday got Ladies' Nite , so no problem for them .
For me , i hate Saturday .... cos must rush home to catch some soccer matches on TV , lost that revenue on Saturday .
Not only Suntec taxi Q for commuters , every taxi stand in town from 7.15pm to 8pm , it's like that one , got $2 peak hour and $1 city surcharge ma ...
I once was on a first in the Q , time : 7.58pm , one lady was waiting at the taxi stand , keep looking at her watch ... i knew what she thinking , so what i intent to do , 7.59pm , i will drive off .... go and take call better .
Maybe from my expression , she knew i buay song liao ... so she slowly come to my cab , slowly want to open the door , slowly this slowly that .... sekali a "booking" came in , i wind down my window , said : " Sorri hor , i "on-Call " liao " .....
Her face turned black like charcoal , by the time i accelerate off , taxi stand no taxi liao .

Back to your question , generally , Monday evening has to be the worst ... not because from 5pm to 10pm no demand , just tat by 11pm , no much demand , taxi has to Q-up for customers .... slow down liao .
Other days , the rush can extend til 12.00am sometime .
