Drive slow or fast earn more money

1st example : Like one customer , at Tekka , for instance ... going Sengkang .
Knowing CTE no jam , and Upper Serangoon Road 100% jam , this customer still insist on using Upper Serangoon Road , then i will drive turtle speed .
They sometime will ask ; "Why drive so slow ?"
My answers always : Upper Serangoon Road speed limit 60km/h , cannot speed , want fast , next time go by CTE .
Purposely slow even slowly for traffic lights ...
2nd example : Plaza Singapura to Hill View .
Ideal route is going to PIE - BKE , exit Dairy farm road .....
But if this customer insist on going by Upper Bt Timah road , then u'll see me driving turtle or bicycle speed , 60km/h .
Cos Up Bt Timah is really must drive 60km/h . Many camera . -
The first example I think the passenger ask you to use the Upper Serangoon Road is because if you use CTE you have to exit at TPE at the north and that make a big circle whereas Upper Serangoon Road will have the viaduct and go all the way up just my two cents worth of thinking. From all the discussion, it come to taxi driver drive fast they will earn more money at the end of the day.
But, I still don't understand why in every 3 Taxis I took at least 2 of them will drive very slow even when they are using the expressway for example at 60-80km/h on expressway and take the middle lane (And on normal roads at 50km/h to 60km/h and take the middle lane).
Why can't they use the right lane and drive at 90km/h to 100km/h on the expressway and 70km/h to 80km/h on normal road.
So that is why I start this topic.
It is getting on my nerve nowadays. -

Tell u what , next day , go and count , the taxis that overtook u ....
But ..... maybe , just maybe .....those slow ones , they have 12 points left on their license , so maybe that's why they drive slow , correct ?
We cabbies very high risk kena speed camera , or red-light camera , dun be surprised many cabbies kena cameras and left with 12 or even 6 points which makes them really discipline on the road .

Stupid customer la .... one traffic light 20cents u know , stop at red-light ?
Go by CTE , exit AMK Ave 5 , Buangkok Green , Sengway East Ave , knn $12 .
Upp.Serangoon also something like that , $11 ? Knn your time wasted , u waste time nevermind , wasting my time , knn .
Anyway , chinese usually let me decide the best way , only some other race , always go by cheap , short and nevermind traffic lights route .
That's why i never fancy going Tekka area . -

Then ALN also wrote when there is a jam, the pax pays more and the driver earns less for the day. Will the driver earn less when there is a jam because the pax will have to pay more when there is a jam and therefore the driver will earn more.
I think i shall clear your doubts. A taxi fare is charged by the distance , not speed or time , you can take a cab from Changi Airport to Tuas , one driver can travel at 160km/h and another can travel at 60/70 km/h , in the end when you reach your destination , your price is going to be the same , taxi fares are charged by its distance , not speeed , if speed that means every taxi driver will drive at 40km/h to earn more money!
When the driver travels slowly , he will earn less as he is wasting his time , for example , a passenger is now waiting for cab at the destination where you're alighting , then there are 2 taxis , A and B , taxi B travels faster then Taxi A , obviously taxi B will overtake Taxi A and got the passenger. This is why if a taxi driver is travelling slowly , not only he is wasting his time , but he is earning less , in the above example , if Taxi A will to travel faster than B , he would have got that passenger and definitely he is going to earn more.
I've taken cab from Toa Payoh to Choa Chu Kang t least 4 times , there was once , good weather , travelled via Bt Panjang , BKE , PIE , he drive fast , reach there $10. Then when i come back , it was raining , the driver took the same route but drove slower as its raining the roads is slippery , reach home also $10. So most of the time itg is the distance that matters , although traffic jam may make the passenger pay more , as when there is traffic jam , the vehicle is stopped & every 25s of waiting time cost $0.10. So surely traffic jam you pay more , other then that , speed doesn't matters. -
i only take the cab when i'm in a hurry.
so i wud get damn pissed if i take the cab that is so freaking slow.
