I have to thank some concern forumites , for suggesting the increase is meant for cabbies and not the company's gain .
Yes , it's all for the cabbies .
They earned nothing other than our rental for re-construct the fare .
I can tell u guys , ComfortDelgro dare not increase rental , why ?
See ..... simple , they are no longer monopolising the taxi industry .
If they increase , cabbies hop to another taxi company , they lacking drivers , they'll taxi stucked in the back yard , they got less revenue , it's worst for them .

Let's do some math , simple math .
Decrease just $1 per cab , per day . Just $1 ....
I count as 20,000 taxis , easy to count .
$1 per day x 20,000 = $20,000 per day they lose .
Per week 7 days : $140,000 they lose
Per month 30 days : $4.2 million they lose each month !!!
Hello friend , u see for urself , if u're the CEO of ComfortDelgro , will u do that to a Public Listed Company ??? Losing $4.2 million in a month , ok , not losing , making less $4.2 million ???
Hey , i am count as only $1 , are u guys thinking about decreasing $10 or more ? or decreasing $20 , or $50 per day ???
If u think like a business man , u'll see logic here .

You think everything so simple? Do you see how stagnant is our taxi industry even with so many taxi companies. The fare structure all the same. So do you think the taxi companies cannot come together and discuss about by rent together? No matter which public transportation we take, who gain the most money. Comfort, Buses and MRT all under Gahman. Private company is just a cover, just to stop us from saying thing about Gahman. Unless all don't take public transportation, we are under their mercy.

Hi, if you speak to taxi drivers, they will tell you comfort already increased the daily rental rates. What was left out in the newspaper article was the bleedy word 'AGAIN'. The taxi drivers themselves are not in favour of the fare increase but comfort makes it sound like its what they want and its only the drivers who will gain. They will NEVER dare mention the information about increase in rental of taxis through any press. From where i started , when the taxi fare is $2.40 back in 2002 , the diesel prices is only @ $0.44 per litres .
Now , taxi flag-down fare is just $0.10 higher , but the diesel cost ? Comfort sells the cheapest , $0.94 per litres .
That was something like .... 120% ???
Those cabbies who not in favour of the increase , they must have some good savings in their piggy banks .
Or they just lying .
As far as my rental is concern , Crown remains the same as of 2002 , except that of 7% GSt .
Sonata rental is $100+ , that was an increase if u are to compare against Crown .
But again , nobody really force them to drive a Sonata , they can always chose a Crown .
If they chose to drive an automatic machine , of Sonata , against a manual Crown , for just somewhere under $10 per day , more comfort , less fatigue , u really can't complain much about rental . -

Mind u , i am a cabby , not any employee of Comfort , but i am presenting a bit of facts here .
Let me reveal some strategies of Comfort .
They always wanted to earn money from rental , but after the taxi industries liberalised , it's beyond their control liao .
So ... what they did ...They buy cheaper korean taxis , Sonata , and up the rental compare to Crown .
But Sonata has it's value , it's automatic , and more powerful , only adding just somewhere extra $10 .
So it's up to the drivers to decide available options , Comfort never force cabbies , or compulsory must drive Sonata .
At least for the next 3 years when crown is still available .
Instead , they switch their profitting strategies to Bookings , from earning $0.50 per booking administartion charge , they charge cabbies $0.70 per piece of booking admin charge .
That's all they did , anything else ? -
If just an cabby, can be bold enough to come out to tell the public that at least for the next 3 years there will be no increase in rentals where the companies had yet to dare do so in public statement? SMRT is also going to increase taxi fare as well.
Singapore SMRT joins ComfortDelGro in taxi fare hike
SINGAPORE, Dec 14 - Singapore's second-largest taxi operator SMRT said in a statement on Friday that it will raise taxi fares from Dec 21, four days after leading rival ComfortDelGro announced it would do the same.
SMRT, which has 3,000 taxis to ComfortDelGro's fleet of 15,000, said the hikes are to mitigate higher operating costs due to rising fuel prices.
It said the changes include raising minimum starting fares to S$2.80 and the tripling of a surcharge to S$3 for taxis entering Singapore's downtown area after 5:00 p.m., in line with the hikes made by ComfortDelGro.
Inflation in Singapore hit a 16-year high in October and the government has forecast it could reach 5 percent in the first quarter next year.
Taxi firms have been hurt by high oil prices , which traded above $92 a barrel on Friday after a record near $100 last month.
