Do anyone think the taxi fare would be revised downward?
some cabbies told me it would be soon as some had started returning their taxis after the fare increase with less business especially during the major holidays.

They dare not ... why ? or their share will dropped like hell .
When they implement such things ... it's to indicate to their shareolders that economy is doing well , taxi making money , they shouldn't be throwing their shares away .....
When they implemenyt such fares , they WILL not revise , very no face u know ? Comfort is World Biggest Taxi Company leh ..... -

Then they moved into Call Centre , when basic fare increase , bookings got less ..... more customer-service will lose their job . Their main motives to the call-centre is to be 100% Fully Automated .
Then they will moved into Maintenance , when more quits comfort , maintenance got less , Mechanic loses their jobs . Workshop to be shared , spart parts purchase less ....
Then they will moved into Operations , less operations , meaning less personnel to run the show ....
So in one year time , more will get more Golden Handshakes .
CityCab at Marymount will be sold , to be share into Comfort's @ SinMing .
Service centre at Portsdown will be closed , Braddell outlet will be for buses only .
All will be slim-line , simply everything . -
All because of there'll be a major overhaul in S'pore transport operation system .
Heard that Comfort/Delgro SBS's transit is going to control SMRT buses and taxis very soon ....
With the NEL / Circle line to go back to SMRT .
That's just market's speculations .
So they started by increasing the taxi fare , to make taxi a secondary transport for commuters , they want to get S'poreans and tourists to make full use of their MRTs and buses as their No 1 & No.2 public transport , ahead of taxis .
without manipulating the taxi fare , Circle line will be a flop !!! By the way , Circle very soon will be competed .
Do u know how much the Circle Line cost LTA and SMRT ??? They can't afford to flop !!! They will do everything to make Circle a success , start from playing with taxi-fare .
So do u think they will revise the fare ? -
I am using the word "flop"on Circle Line , because NEL is somehow ..... not a secret la , not doing too well .
They will not let NEL's set-back , to be replay on Circle Line .

Cos this small 3 give good benefits to cabbies .
The strong ones will survive ! ( Ah-Hmm .... )

In fact .... Comfort & CityCab is too big to rival smaller companies .
Only when they are smaller , then they can talked about rivalling the rest .
Smaller companies has smaller overheads , can afford to give good money for cabbies .
Comfort & CityCab cannot afford , it'll be very painful for them to give equal benefits , because they fleet's is 21,000 , too big .
That's my opinion , i learnt and analysed from the management , when we communicate thru'emails .
Just $1 a day they give to their cabbies .... easily $21,000 per day ! -
So .... there could be something we don't know ......
Comfort/Delgro could be merging with SMRT taxis very soon ...... the taxi's fleet is going to be so big , it's very hard for ComfortDelgro to manage , only solution , slim-line the fleet .
Indirectly .... lay-off some cabbies .

or another possiblity .... ComfortDelgro trying to kill the smaller taxi companies .
They are gambling ....
Hoping that more drivers from the smaller companies quit as well , cos tan bo jiak liao ....
Comfort has been losing far too many drivers to other company .
The gamble is they will also lose drivers .
The first people that will plan to quit , will be those O-M-Os .... -

One taxi uncle willing to waive 35% peak hour surcharge,cos his business had dropped significantly in pass two weeks.
But according to Taxi company,drivers are not allow to do so..

wow lan waive 35% surcharge?... brave soul, but stupid solo effort cos no one knows... today the road is quiet again... can see long queues of taxi almost everywhere in town.... luckily i still managed to make my usual sum except that i waited longer and can see less locals take taxi
i think taxi situation may worsen further for drivers... many pax still not very sure about the fare increase... more may cut down... eat grass liao... if this goes on, either drivers will start switching jobs or comfort reduce rent... -
Whatever the reason, the fare hike is definitely not the solution to the original problem, which is that taxis are always not around during peak hours.
The reason why there are no taxis during peak hours is because the taxi drivers are all hiding and waiting to earn that few dollars more. The real solution should come from the taxi companies and govt to step up regulations and nab the cheats of the roads!!
What use is there to keep increasing fares and passing on the cost to the consumer when its the taxi drivers' fault?!
Am gonna round up my friends and boycott taxis together... -

PM Lee has spoken about improving the public transport system , now we see why the taxi price was increased , he emphasised the system , without the word "taxi" in "public transport", now we know why the increase !!!
The Garmen has intervene here .... at the expense of cabbies' income .

Cabbies still in control .... the time will come when taxis is still commuters' prefer transport .
The Garmen needs the revenue for new cars ..... they are decreasing the road taxes , i still think that Singaporeans still clever enough not to buy cars .

it's really cb lor they all.... that day... mi took cab from clementi to boon lay nia.... knn.. the meter is 7.60 nia... then i happy happy give him 10 dollar note.. then... that driver never return mi anyway.. and say peak hr charge lor... knn.. 35% lor at 6pm, on weekdays, at clementi, with taxi queue long long lor.. CCB.....really dun make any sense at all..

the fare increase is a result of singaporeans complaining no taxi during peak hours... how else to adjust demand and supply without adjusting fare?
I think the $3 city surcharge makes good sense. But the 35% peak hours surcharge is a bit too high. 25% to 30% maybe better. -

as i said, if taxi fare too high, no need to boycott, taxi also close shop. But if priced correctly, waiting time will be optimal.
U think taxi drivers at fault? blame it on lta. If they set the fare, rather than let comfort set the fare, waiting time will be more optimal. But comfort already gives in liao... now they have eroded their advantage in call booking because with higher city surcharge, less taxi will wait for call. I am sure waiting time in city will improve alot -
