Taking a cab .
My income raised back to normal .
Normal working hours , normal pay , lesser diesels .
Hmm .... that 35% peak hour and City Charge $3 still cannot stop them from taking a cab .
This evening 10pm me at Millenium Tower Taxi-Stand , waiting for customer , sekali got booking even , same building : Millenium Tower !
My taxi no need to move , just waiting for customer come down , extra $3.50 , extra $3 .
Reason for his booking : " Nevermind , i using my Corporate Voucher ! "
He works for CitiBank NA . -
He enlightened me something ...... which i thought , it's true , why not ?
He said : " Singaporean 3.5 millions , PR 2 millions , Expatriates 250,000 "
He added : "Where got no taxis business ? "
He told me : "His job requires to know the datas of the spending force of the whole of Singapore's population ! "

LTA says demand for taxis should be allowed to stabilise
SINGAPORE : The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has said that demand for taxi services is dynamic and sensitive to pricing.
So this demand needs some time to stabilise, following the fare revisions which kicked in last month.
Only then will LTA gauge its impact and effectiveness.
LTA added that it is monitoring the taxi situation closely.
A taxi driver who wants to be known only as Mr Lim said he gets about 10 passengers in five hours, in one evening.
However, between the peak period of 5pm and 8pm, he would only pick up three passengers.
Mr Lim claims he used to earn S$15 an hour, before taxi fares were raised last month. But he now earns about S$10.
So that means that he has to drive for 12 hours to pay for his rental and diesel fees which amount to about S$120 a day.
SMRT said it is still monitoring the situation and cannot give an average earning of its taxi drivers.
Transcab said it has computer problems and cannot provide a figure.
It also added that it is too early to conclude the effects of the recent fare hikes.
As for SingaporeÂ’s largest taxi operator, ComfortDelGro, it said the average driver is taking about S$9 more a day or S$270 more a month.
However, ComfortDelgro cautioned that this is based only on the first week since the new fares were implemented.
It said its figures are very preliminary.
As for commuters, not everyone is clear about how much more they have to pay, and why.
One commuter said, "No, definitely not clear."
When asked why the commuter said, "ItÂ’s after a while...it took several taxi drivers to explain it to me."
Another said, "I know that it has increased a lot because I take taxis quite frequently....I only have a brief idea that if I actually (take) a taxi in the city area, I need to pay S$3 more and even a 35 percent surcharge."
However one commuter noted, "(I am) rather clear (about the new fares) because I take a taxi almost everyday. But I will avoid taking taxis during peak hours."
On the recent concern that Comfort taxi drivers were still displaying the old fares, the company has printed a reply in a newspaper.

LTA can say what they one... but i have stopped taking Taxis.
the only time i took taxi after the hike was because I was going to airport.
Usually when i go airport (which I will about 2-3 times/month), I will book in advance so that I will get my taxi ontime)
Now i rather walk about 100m and flag down from main road.
In fact, my average taxi fare last time (with booking) is $22-24.
After the hike and flag down is $15.
worth that 100m walk.
And I took taxi because my friends were unavailable to send me. -
Honestly speaking , private taxi companies their drivers will have some problem , cos Comfort's drivers has the support of their corporate customers base , they don't have .
Our Corporate customers , any card-holder , they can't take other taxis other than Comfort & Citycab , unless they willing to pay cash . Why pay own cash when i have a card ? -

With Comfort's Hyundai Sonata so strong , and Premier's Silver Kia relatively strong , they're the only Taxi Coy without any automatic transmission vehicle , which is a let-down , a taxi coy with their cabby's base , should be heading into that direction , i heard many of their drivers , switch to Silver Kia for that reason .
One main reason for that secrecy , maybe they do not want to reveal their current situation .
Every taxi companies has their very own shortage of drivers problem .
