A recent hike on Taxi fare, there are so report on this issue everyday on paper. Why there are so many coverage on this, all about Taxi this new year 2008.

Just wondering must i still continue with my plan. Just happen received a letter from LTA the approval for may vocation licence application, and now going for my traning school enrolment.
But with so many reports on this issue, look like this are also another diffficult task becoming a taxi driver.
Can someone enlighten me, cause over here there are many veteran personnel over here, Thank. -

My advice : Go on with your plan .
Got one taxi license won't die in Spore one .
Becoming a cabby now , without experience , indeed is difficult .
Plan A : Take a license , then start off with something light , as in part/time Fri/Sat or Sunday .
Learn-As-U-earn ....
Upon completion of 3 months , then u judge yourself on where u stand , are u ready for Full-Time ? U judge and feel the taxi market ...
Got potential ?
Are u a fighter or not ? U judge ur own fullest character , after 3 months .
If u learn the trade now , think of the prospect of Singapore Flyer , Sentose IR , Universal Studio IR , MICE , F1 night race .... etc .
Mice is good , those conventions , exhibitions , one shot come 35,000 , and one shot 35,000 f*ck-off from Spore .
When got Mice , chances to go Airport from town is as good as up 50% chances .
Hey , i forgotten about Terminal 3 , remember A380 ? First has been launched , the first in the world , i think we'll have 18 of them !!!
Once at Airport , with a single A380 landing , one shot 250 taking taxis .
Go town hotel .... most likely .
Well .... Singapore will be indeed one buzzling city .
With those IRs ..... 14 million targetted tourist each year for instance , u'll have like how many chances to get a customer ?? With only say like only 20,000 cabs in Singapore on the road each day ?
My math no good , u go and count the ratio !! -

And Singapore is targetting something like 2 million PR .... and non-stop expats employment pass holder .
With only 20,000 taxis on the road each day ..... besides the IR , Mice , FI night race etc .....
I still thinking .... i'll be driving like mad if i know where the lobang is !
Within the next five years , The CBD will be extended up from say : SGH Bt Merah / Tiong bahru area . From current status .
Vivo / Senotosa also consider CBD .
Stevens Road , Tekka , Thomson , Golden Mile , ICA building , as far as Geylang , also conider CBD !
LTA has blue-print that half of Singapore soon will be CBDed . The boundary will be extended . Make it a bigger radius
CBD ? So what u may asked ?
CBD = plus $3 city charge !!
CBD means more gantries for more LTA revenue !!! Can't u see that ?

I heard from some senior cabbies ...
Comfort and LTA only wanted the best 20,000 cabbies for Singapore Taxi Industries .
Those no good ones , will get kick-out ! Those kao-peh kao-bu ones , those complaint-king type , those fighting ones , those touting ones , those pie-kia type ... all one-by-one out .
They wanted a modest force , to re-inforce the Spore images , not to ruined them .
LTA and taxi industry players , has got a long term plan ..... not short term . -
i dont think LTA want only 20,000 good cab/cabbies lah, going by the speed LTA is giving out new taxi licences to companies... If they want to keep at 20k, just have comfort and maybe smrt enough liao and easy to control because govt linked.
but i hope more cabbies return, then less cabs on road...then business less tough...me sticking on for the time being.......

Not that he never take job , say if the job go Woodland , my this friend would pressed "5 minutes " , then stop at a secret place , wait for 2 minutes , then pressed meter and fuck-off ( vacant ) , he just don't like go Wland . -

Look, just for curiosity out of all the advertisment by the taxi company everday, just happen go down and make a try. Went to LTA filled up the application and paid 40 dollars and was told by the couter staff, you need to wait for three weeks for clearance, but to my surprise less than seven working days, an invitation letter stated you are selected, but choice your training center, within three month of the letter dated.
At this point, i am very confuse. why so fast the process.
My question, currently is there a shortage in this field for taxi driver, or any other reason. -

Once u're cleared from LTA , and police department , they will notified you .
Not that we lacking of drivers .... we lacking of good attitude drivers .
The old cabbies with attitude will be replaced by someone like u . -

Well , i am lucky to be a Spore cabby , cos thanks to those Internet technologies , just one click , i can find "lobangs" , or happenings in Singapore .
Lobangs like those shows at ESPLANADE , concert at Spore Indoor Stadium , Suntec City Convention centre got what exhibitions ? Spore Expo got what sales ?
The arrival time in Changi Airport .... T1 consists of which flights , T2 consists of which flights , etc etc etc ... All can be found inside the internet !
And while on the road , u'll learn the trade happenings at Geylang also . This can't be found inside internet , sometimes yes .
Don't laugh , i mastered the Art of Geylang !
No la , i happened to know much better about those business along Lorong 16 , Lorong 18 , Lorong 14 ,different lorongs has got different girls , and prices .
When u know these knowledge , when customer come to u , asked : "I want Thai girls , not really expensive , $120 onwards , super one ! " To me , it's finger tips ! I can help them get to where they want , and safely .
All this is lobangs .
The old cabbies can hardly has these luxuries back in the 80's or 90's .
We are lucky . Cabbies in the Millenium is lucky . -

U can asked ALN , he can tell u more , ALN did one Monday , from 6pm to 1am , his salary is about $120 . For 6 hours job . That's a prolific scoreline ! -
Me drove only 6 months. But enough time to realise that you have to really enjoy driving to like the job. No point looking at how much taxi can earn if you cannot tahan driving or worse if don't like driving at all. Anyway, yeah one wed night i was lucky with good connections and made $120+..... but that is one off...... I drove last night again and made much less...a lot depends on luck (although Poolman will disagree)... like last night after queuing at clark quay... the pax wants to go to fort canning hill...@#$#@!
and 2 times I picked paxs at novena square, the paxs want to go national skin centre (just behind) Q@#@!
Overall, I am still enjoying taxi esp Fri/ Sat nite... but much more if I spend less time looking for pax -

Wits .... must know where's lobangs and crowds , and white or yellow skin , or black .
Strategies , as in how to create customers connections . Connections means $$$ . Some places and taxi stands cannot anyhow pick the people , eg , Lavender Street , Golden Mile area , most , 70% , would head to places like Hougang side . Hougang is one of my so-called dead corner in Singapore .
Can , u lucky go Hougang , hardwork come down to town , then where's your wits ? With wits , City so many $3 xtra customers , why take one from Golden Mile go Hougang ( without xtra $3 ), and maybe Beach Road got a $3 xtra customer to go to Airport ?
Entrepeneurship is like .... every trips , good or bad , it's still $$$ , but a balance must be there , beneficial to me first , then customer service .
Well , stategies must be ahead of Entrepeneurship , in that sequence .
That's my opinion . -
