Just wondering...U guys are full-time taxi-drivers or part-timers with jobs?
Why do U want to be a taxi driver?
I went to look look at the criterion for being a taxi-driver...like quite expensive to even qualify as one in the first place..
so upfront have to come up with at least SGD338 before can even qualify to drive a cab.
now wats the min age ah?
cos i saw very very young drivers before..... probably younger than me one......
so that they can ferry me around ?

Why I don't want to be a taxi driver.
Once a PAP grassroot leader ask me why don't be a taxi driver, when I complained to him of the difficulty of the over 40 to get a good job. We have only O levels and have worked hard for over 20 years to mid management levels, and then suddenly in the name of survival for all, we were swept off the economic ladder. Fair enough, out with the old, in with the young, give the young ones a chance. I am ok with that, but the foreigh talents?
I ask him isn't that a sign that we have gone wrong somewhere in our education, and countries like India, China, Philippines, Vietnam got their education programme right 10, 20 years ago? And these countries nationals are now comming here as talents. While we are asked to be taxi drivers, and labled as choosy, costly and sickly. I say with all my learning, QCs, upgrading, skills, and work discipline, am I to be a taxi driver? The bloody bugger kept silent.
Because all the good jobs being taken over by foreign talents, last down the line is taxi driver lor.
Which job gives u cold hard cash everyday with minimum capital ?
Minimum capital ? Rental $50 , diesel $30 , and return as in 100% profit ?
And short hours ?
And still very clean , not a dirty job ?
And sit all day long ?
And in a aircondition environment ?
And can meet and talk and learn from all kinds of people ?
And deal in cash terms ?
And the only thing we need is just a driving license !!
Which job gives u those absolute freedom ?
Eat anytime , toilet anytime , drink anytime ..... and holiday anytime ?
Minus point of a cabby , no CPF !
So what's my solution ?
Buy a similiar thing like CPF , insurance la , better interest , and protection for my family .
Lan pa pa lan , what CPF ?
Taxi driver is the only job foriegner cannot touch , unless Garmen want to degrade the overall service standard .
Taxi driver also don't have this word in their dictionary : Retrench
Been a cabby ..... i never felt inferior before .
I feel proud of being a cabby , and i am proud cos i am not a bad cabby , and i am still improving as a person .
I am happy cos i have learnt a great deal from those people around the world . The people i met .
My circle might be just inside a vehicle , but my pool is as big as a globe .I can see many different people around the world .
By talking sometimes , u can learnt a great deal from them .
I have cold hard cash everyday ....
We are so much better off compared to many Singaporean out there , when by the 25th of the month , they are quite broke liao .
I would say 30% of our fella Singaporeans , they're still struggling to make both end meets .
I am lucky i am a taxi driver .
Yes , i hope many still thinks it's a low class profession .
Becos if many think otherwise , then my rice bowl wrecked easier .
drive taxi is good, so I can travel in taxi
i wish the co. will have stricter QC
esp on attitude and customer service
talking about CPF ...
Ok ...
If u are a man , and owned a house , and your wife not working , don't be a cabby .
Cos u're going to suffer financing the HDB loan .
If ur wife is working , still can drive a cab , partial pay by CPF of your wife , partial pay by cash .
And currently , being a part-timer like ALN will be the best .
Work only the busy days , good $$$ weekends .
No good business don't drive .
No responsibilties , no burden of a full time driver .
