i've had no luck w/ sonata.
wait at taxi stand long, long.. my turn, crown.
flag down along street, crown.
call for cab.. get number.. wait anxiously.... crown.![]()
sonata very powerful. hmm maybe cus of the turbo?
crown dun feel so powerful but due to the uber cushy suspension, when it accelerate, u totally get suck into the seat. lol.
I like the ride of the fiat, especially during hard acceleration, can hear the turbo flutter.
Although thats not really a good thing.![]()
i sat on a sonata once, from woodlands checkpoint to sembawang. i am very impressed with the sonata. much much better than the crap toyota crown.
but my best cab ride is actually on a skoda octavia. better than a merz, i dare say.

Totally agreed with redDUST that skoda is still the best.
i love the skoda engine sound.. very roaarrrrrrrr.
My ang mo pax said he giddy sitting behind , cos i think the vehicle wobble alot behind .
juz now my couple pax from Kampong bahru to Punggol 21 told be i driving very fast , knn 110km/h .
I told her , i very slow liao , i told her i usually average at 120km/h , cos today many TP on the road , so i relax a bit .
She said : Wow , uncle u humble leh "
Of course Skoda Octavia power , V-6 engine leh .....
They dun want speed nia , Sonata no match .
Sonata CRDI turbo diesel , Skoda V-6 2.5 i think , Sonata 2.0 , compare what ?
Obviously Sonata save fuel than Skoda .

I take cab quite regular, at least twice a day, been doing that seen june last year. Taken all kind of taxis and Skoda is still my fav.
Wobble alot? that ang mo must be drunk or he doesn't enjoy life.

which is why i see many sonatas the right hand side mirror has an extra mirror above it & my question is, is it the cabbies fixed themselves or did CDG do it..![]()
CDG do it? TKK then have lah. fix ourselves. the one from korea costs $16 while the one from china costs $13. (tat's $32 if u fixed both sides) but this blind spot mirror very very useful. now don't even need to turn my head to check, one glance is all it takes. even toyota crowns oso fixed and i saw a few private cars with the blind spot mirror too. but it does spoil the aesthetics.
everytime i take taxi with gf den kena sonata i sure "wah, initial D ride again.."
fast and spacious but sometimes overtake or change lane quite fierce lol.. when accelerate really whole body pushed back..
Truth be told... I'm used to the acceleration of more powerful machines. But when it comes to choosing my taxis, I'm not fussed as long as the air con is very cold, And I can sleep during the ride. ![]()
no offence to those crown drivers… purely my preference
helloooo ALviN, don't be apologetic, the crown is truly indeed very noisy. When I'm finished driving the crown (another 15 months) I should be quite deaf by then. Anyway I like the crown for it's 'vintage' look.

Above 90km/h, talk also very difficult, let alone sleep…

I can sleep listening to rock and heavy metal. I can sleep anywhere. In fact the noise is very soothing.
