Hi people:),
I am currently doing some research on the interface of the taxi's computer interface (Cablink II MDT). Just a question as in do taxi drivers really use that interface provided? Cause i heard from most of them they do not even touch it at all. Please feel free provide me with all your valuable opinions and also anything which u guys like to add on to the interface. Thanks:).
yo Danoleh,
extremely unlikely! if dun use how to accept current or advance bookings? how to display change shift or busy? besides cheaper diesel, the only other reason we joined CDG is cos got more bookings. if dun use MDT, defeats the purpose of joining CDG wor. see below for MDT problems.

oso, 1 important item is missing from the menu....total amount collected. this can only be seen if one logs off from the system. i'd like to know how much i've collected simply by a simple touch of the menu. btw, are u working for cablink?
By by way .... it's this Cablink 2 refering to our current interface ?
Now i using , or all using WO-728 , 7.36 Version .
Thank you so much for the valuable replies and suggestion. er.. i am not currently working under comfort but i am trying and working to propose the project and design a new interface for cabs which is much easier and faster. Are there any things else to improve beside the total accumulative amount and slow interface? Please suggest more or anymore add ons u guys think is relevant :) I thank u guys sincerely:)
By the way Poolman, ya i am refering to your version of cablink.:)
And ALN, does it spoil halfway like jam frequently?
I see I see. So reliability is the main issue. hmm... ok i will take note of that thanks. i might require more opinions in the future. Please help me with more of those issues in dealing with the improvement of the interface. Feel free to post more or any comments in this post, I will come back and check regularly. Thanks alot:)
My MDT has been reliable so far. Only a couple of times when I needed to reset cos no GPS coverage.
My main gripe is the very slow scrolling on maps. It'd be nice to have a feature like the one in Nokia Maps that suggests routes from place to place. Since our cab's position is already known, a computed shortest route to a destination which we key in should be possible. My handphone does not have GPS, so I need to specify start point and end point before the phone searches online for a possible route, with an alternative route option.
I don't need a real-time GPS navigator, just the route. REal useful for newbies like me. And would definitely help reduce customer complaints on cabbies taking a longer-than-necessary route.
A bigger touchscreen for the MDT would be nice too, big enough to see details without taking your eyes off the road too long. Perhaps 50% bigger than the current size should suffice. With some touch feedback when we key in alpha-numero keys.
My LCD is difficult to read in bright sunlight. I'm sure there're better LCD's out there that don't have a problem with this.
And would it hurt to install a simple little game for a cabbie waiting in a long queue?
