Who are Hindus here?

  Hi.. firstly I wld like to congratulate gUms for starting a Hindu forum.. btw, who are Hindus here? care to tell us?
  
  Also... I'm wondering what kind of different Hindu sects/denominations are around in Singapore? What are the differences? Thanks.

  mm the 2 main types of hindus are the Shivites (to Shiva) or Vaishnavites (to Vishnu)
  
  Not sure bout the other sub-divisions within the religion. Hinduism is pretty laid back, in Singapore at least.

  Oh I see... thanks for the reply I agree that Hinduism seems pretty laid back in Singapore.. maybe if more is done to promote its teachings and practices it will see some improvements.
  
  I have some interest in Hindu teachings as well. (I have read Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, Ramana Maharshi, Ramesh Balsekar and other Advaita Vedanta teachings)
