Childhood years are easily the most remembered and cherished ones in a person's life - often for the pure innocence and inquisitiveness they represent. It is without doubt, an impressionable period. The inputs a child receives from his environment and the people he associates with most - parents and teachers - play a key role in shaping the child's future and determine the kind of adult he or she will grow up to be. The sheer mental capacity even of young babies in their scrutiny of the world is astounding. The understanding of social phenomenon, such as distinctions between truth and falsehood, is demonstrated at an early age.
Acknowledging the importance of the formative years should make us question what we are actually doing about it. To what extent should there be intervention programs? Is what children experience in schools, let alone homes, adequate? Are the needs and attitudes of individual children met?
This DVD set captures moments in the lives of children as they grow up learning to become mature, law-abiding and responsible adults and also honors the people who made a difference to their lives.
