  My house still using sanyo muti system (11year) already ..so far no major problem. Except 1 time air-con water-leak becos air-con pipe choked.
  
  Called sanyo service technican to my place service and clear the choked.
  (cost less than $100).

  I am using DaiKin now and it work perfectly well for me no problems @ all and can go lower than 18 degree using the powerful function

  You've got to look at the btu and the energy saver technology that they are using. For a single room, I would recommend those with 9,000 btu.
  
  I've got a Daikin which I'm not at all satisfied. Maybe you can try Panasonic? Heard it's quite good but I've not tried it as yet. Maybe I'll buy it the next time round. ~~~
