Meade DS 2000 series telescope has plenty of power and features for the beginning astronomer. The 114mm aperture is large enough to provide good views of the moon and planets, as well as the brighter galaxies, nebulas, and star clusters. The handheld controller, called the Autostar, has directional buttons for moving the telescope in any direction, and also includes a list of over 1400 celestial objects which the telescope can locate via the GOTO feature. Use of the GOTO feature requires some initial setup of the autostar, and alignment of the telescope each time it is used. The DS-2114ATS comes with a full-size aluminum tripod which is adjustable in height, a 6x30mm viewfinder, and two good quality 1.25" eyepieces.
