Rare Green Sandalwood (Lui Zitan / Lui Xiangtan - 绿紫檀) master craftsman made dragonhead erhu for sale. This hard to find instrument is a variant of the erhu family and is known as a yuehu (sound produced is similar to a gaohu).
This yeuhu is made from high quality green sandalwood, which is limited in supply and experiencing rising costs in the current skyrocketing commodities market environment - not to mention rising cost of labour in China. As this instrument is made from sandalwood, it possess a very sweet fragrance and produces a very distinct and rich sound.
Yuehus are traditionally mounted with wild snakeskin, but if you prefer, they can easily be replaced with python skin which may be more suitable for humid countries. I can remount it with python skin for you after full payment. Extra charges apply based on quality of python skin. The process will take approximately 1 month.
I have 2 pieces for sale, one of which has a small crack near the neck of the dragon. For the piece with a slight defect, I'm letting it go at a special discount. The usual price of this item is SGD1,350 for the exquisite craftsmanship and high quality rare material, and I'm selling this piece at SGD850. The slight defect which is barely noticeable can be corrected based on my experience.
All you need to do is find a craftsman who is experienced in repairing furniture to patch it up for you. Since the crack is barely noticeable unless you know where to look and you examine it very closely, you can also do without any touchup. It looks perfect when held up and viewed from your lap and viewed at a regular distance.
